Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

How to replace the front shocks in Audi A6 1996 with diagram if possible please

This vehicle employs macpherson type suspension which means the shocker is part of the suspension leg ,Now remove this is no problem but then you promise me you will take it to a garage to have the spring changed over as this requires special machinery ,This is dangerous without the right gear and can easly decapitate or or sever a arm .Remove the three nuts securing the top of the leg and then the bottom fixing as i cannot remember offhand if its 2 bolts or yolk type fork attachment with a big bolt ?? iam not a dealer fitter but a back street cowboy whos past his sellby date

One of the three suspension legs supporting the washer drum has broken. This model is prone to this. I had mine serviced before the warranty expired and the service guy showed me how to do it. Much the same as replacing a worn shock on a car, the front panel of the washer is held in place by two hex screws that can be accessed by 'popping' the top panel of the washer unit. Once the screws are removed, you can then access the whole unit by disconnecting the wiring loom and the internal water hoses. Sometimes if the suspension leg isn't broken, you can screw it in place and secure it with a screw. This is what the service guy did, but it came loose in a few months. There is a new kit that replaces the old suspension legs but I haven't ordered it so I can't comment.

Could be worn or broken dampers, or loose concrete balance weight.
This would cause the problem you describe.
There are 2 wieghts, one in the top, and one at the bottom of washer.
Check that the nylon locating pins are securly fixed in the damper legs, as sometimes they have been known to come out of socket.

Adjusting suspension

hi there,,if u can see a air valve on top of the forks, then u can use a bicycle or foot pump to squeeze a bit more air to the fork,, or if there is an adjuster on the fork,ie, a plastic lookin cap with 1 2 3 4 and a arrow on it u can turn that to a comfortable position,, if there is nothing u can see, then u either have not enuff fork oil in each fork leg,,or if there is enuff,, u will need to change the grade of fork oil and replace wots in it,, so id say a more harder grade of oil,, usually there isnt enuff oil in the forks to make it dive into the front wheel,, try topping the oil up,,with about,4or 5 egg cup fulls of oil in each leg,,if nothing has made any difference,, put in another 4 or 5 ,,,any probs on how u put oil in2 the legs ,please do come back in ,and il tell u how 2,, im assuming u do no,, ok ,,cheers
