To reformat your hard drive with windows 2000, first you must start the computer from the cd, then allow this to run when ask if you would like to install windows hit enter then from there you would be given an option to install a fresh copy of windows, choose to format the disk and then continue with the installation. If you are really a techie guy, you my download gpart and burn the ISO to a disk, and boot from the gpart disk. you with able to partition your disk and format a partition. This is good since it will leave windows in tack.

Do you have everything backed up? Are you absolutely sure, there's no going back?

If you are sure, then go to this webpage, scroll down half way where it says, "Steps to Clean Install XP"

You will have to reformat the hard drive. Do you have a restore disk? Which Windows are you using?

Windows 2000
You will need the disk to reformat the hard drive.

Windows XP or OEM windows (Dell. HP, etc.)
You can do afactory restor with image on partition. Go to manufacturers website for specific instructions.

Windows Vista
Press F4 at startup screen (spashscreen) and choose advanced. Restore to factory settings.

Note: This will completely erase all documents, pictures off of hard drive and is last resort.

How to reformat a notebook laptop with no CD-driver?

Remove the hard-disk - it will usually connect via an IDE or SATA-compatible interface. You can then connect it to a computer (internally, or via eSata / USB / 1394 enclosure). You can then format it from that computer.

When you say no CD-driver, do you mean Driver or Drive?

if there's no CD drive, it should either have a floppy drive (in which case, any system book disk can re-format the HDD), or USB-booting capabilities.

If there's no driver, than a Windows 2000 / XP CD should be able reformat the disk - when you boot from it, it will load drivers off the CD. You don't need to install Windows normally, the recovery console can format disks.
A Windows 95/98/ME boot disk/CD will allow formatting, but only in FAT/FAT32 file systems (you will probably want NTFS, which 2000 and XP can create)

Corrupt in language id

Then reinstall Windows... but DO NOT reformat. you will loose your data if you have to then, it's up to you. Try Windows ME if your on Windows 98 or 98 SE.
Or go to NT tech (Windows 2000 - Windows XP)

Problem aboout reformatting

Depending on what windows you're running the best solution I've used is to install a prior version of windows preferably windows 2000 or Windows 98 I find its easier to format because there is less programs to install. Hope this helps =)
