Download the device software/driver from your DV camcorder manufacturer

Don't forget to choose proper operating system.

My thoughts is the heads on the drum are getting clogged. The best thing to do is to take it into a place like Best Buy who may be able to have the appropriate cleaning tools to clean the debris from the heads.
Cleaning should be left to the professionals especially with Mini DV as the heads and head drum is so small and tiny.

OK IF YOUR PRERECORDER VIDEO'S PLAYBACK CORRECTLY THIS IS THE CCD AND CANON WILL FIX FOR FREE. THANKS TO SONY

It was my question and I have found an answer.The problem was,due to faulty main PCB,which did not supply power to LCD backlight. I was lucky enough to find same faulty model on eBay,sold for spares (around $15 for the lot).I have also purchased a service manual for $10,just to see,how to disassemble a unit.It was pretty easy,not a rocket science.Any new replacement part usually very expensive,not saing about repair in repair shop.Will cost fortune.My advice: try to find similar not working unit on ebay,just figure out what was wrong,as there is no point to get unit with the same fault.The camera I have bought for parts had a mechanical problem,chewing tape.

This sounds like it might be a defective CCD imager. If so, Canon should fix this for you for free, including free shipping both ways. This is regardless of your camera's warranty status. Please check the following two links for more info:

the lcd screen is filled with straight colourfull lines
can't see any image on it

samsung vp-d351. lcd screen was bright white at first then suddenly went off (no picture). sound and everything else ok. can anybody help?

If the LCD display is open, the viewfinder becomes inactive. Shut the LCD display, and the image should appear through the viewfinder. If there is still no image, the camcorder may require service.
