Winterization for 1992 bayliner trophy

What all must a person do to winterize a 1992 bayliner trophy for the winter out of the water. -40 winter stored outside under a tarp. It is a cuddy cabin 22ft with a 3.0 L merc gas and a merc leg. Has its own engine cooling system. I know I have to add antifreeze to the head and pull the plug to drain the keel but what about bilge pumps, fish wells, aftercoolers or whatever it has and needs. Is there anything special to the engine, hull, electrical that should be done

The bilge pumps as long as they are dry its no problem, fish wells and lines should also be dry. Everything else is not really a issue. You can have the boat shrink wrapped for the winter to keep the water out but a quailty cover and a run off stand would do the same as long as you keep it standing up.

Just make sure she is clean and ready to store, drain the gas, and cover the tires for protection.

Best of luck

You are on the right track so far. Just be sure and get the anti freeze in the engine. Drain any water left from the bilge pump so it's dry. Rather than going on here, I'm giving you a couple links with some good tips to follow...

Cannot find the water pump to winterize 2010 Forest River Sierra. I can hear it running but am unable to locate it. The bypass valves are in the correct winterize position but the antifreeze will not go in...

You don't need to find the water pump. Make sure your water tank is empty before adding RV winterizer to the water tank. Run each faucet in the RV with bypass valve NOT in winterize position until you see the antifreeze begin to come out of the faucet. Do this for both cold and hot water side for each faucet. Then move bypass valve to winterize position and run for a few seconds.

How do i winterize a 1990 4387 bayliner motor yacht

Yes--- it involves finding EVERY drain plug in the engine and exhaust system, running some preserver oil thru the engine JUST as it runs out of gas and mixing the right amount of gas preserver to last the winter. THEN there is the fresh water system which needs a non poisonous antifreeze and proper draining along with the black and grey water tanks being serviced. If it has a hot water system, it needs to be drained.

Then there is the trailer bearings which will be full of water if you are going to store on the hard they will be full of water from the retrieval (don't get be started on bearing buddies) No body knows how to use them properly.

Oh ya- you need to service the lower unit for leaks and new oil, and check the u-joint boot for water and bad U-joints and grease the intermediate bearing.

But don't forget the drain plug or all this work will be for nothing as you will find a boat full or rainwater and a bent trailer.

Heater and defroster don't work well

Connie this sounds like your thermostat in the engine is stuck open not letting the water stay in the engine block to heat up. The fix is to replace the thermostat with a new one that will allow the water to stay in the block to warm up. The typical symptoms of a stuck open thermostat is that the air will blow somewhat warm but never hot in the winter time, but it will take a few miles for the air to warm up at all. I would check with the dealership and find out what degree thermostat to replace it with. I run a 180 degree in the summer and a 195 degree thermostat in the winter just to have hot heat in the winter. I hope this helps

Need an undercarriage protection for our 2003 chevy blazer - cant find one!

There are any number of commercial protection products available over the counter.. of any auto part store, or online.

In my own humble opinion... Your best protection is regular washing with clean water, and some WD40 on all unpainted surfaces. Any coating you put on will eventually trap moisture and contaminants under it, causing corrosion faster.
Easy way to prevent undercarriage rust is to power wash the entire undercarrage, then spray the entire undercarriage with WD-40 before the onset of winter.

WD-40 displaces water, helping to keep rust under control. Suprisingly, it doesn't come off as easily as you'd think in wet winter driving.
Use use two medium size cans of WD-40 to do all undercarriage, making sure to spray every nook and cranny (but avoiding the brake rotors/pads) until it is saturated.

Believe it or not, one good coating will last all winter--at least enough to prevent rust. Each spring, use a high pressure sprayer to clean the undercarriage and reapply a new coat of WD-40 for the spring/summer/fall months.

What kind of oil does it take

In the summer it's best to use a heavier weight than you do in the winter. I usually use 10w/30 or 10w/40 in the summer, but in winter i use 5w/20 or 10w/20. As far as brand, it's really a personal preference. I still use castrol in my personal vehicle.
