Log onto the RCA website and download the RCA SMV Video Converter. The Opal only plays videos that are in one specific format. This converter will put your videos into that exact format (see Resources below).
Install the RCA SMV Video Converter once you have downloaded the software.
Open the RCA SMV Video Converter software to begin putting videos onto your RCA Opal.
Connect the RCA Opal to your computer using the USB chord that came with the device.
Wait until the RCA SMV Video Converter software reads that the device has been connected. You will know this when the bottom of the software screen reads “Player Detected: Opal 1GB 2GB.”
Select the “Browse” option to find any videos that are on your computer which you wish to add to the RCA Opal.
Click the box next to “Transfer output files to OPAL 1GB 2GB after conversion is complete” after you have selected all of the videos which you wish to convert. This will automatically add the videos to your RCA Opal after they have been converted.
Click the “Convert” box after you have selected all of the videos. The videos will automatically begin to convert to the correct format. Once they have been converted, your videos will automatically upload to your RCA Opal.
This device will only play SMV files. You will need to download two free programs Any Video Converter. http://www.any-video-converter.com/products/for_video_free/ And the other is http://www.soft29.com/freeware/smv_converter.htm SMV converter. Instally both programs. I use any video converter and changed it to mpeg. After the file is in mpeg then I use SMV converter. I do cutom use the largest screen format and highest on everything so its full screen. And the quailty is a heck of lot better the the easy rip free program. Give it a try and let me know if that works for you.
Will tell you how to work around the easy rip. You will need two free programs 1st program Any Video converter http://www.any-video-converter.com/products/for_video_free/ It will convert the files to any output u like. I like Mpeg 2 2nd program SMV Converter. http://www.soft29.com/freeware/smv_converter.htm Have this convert the file to a smv file. After its converted just drag and drop into the video section of your mp3 player.
What it meant to say was "NO FILE that I know how to play". Did you create .SMV files from your original videos? It's the only video format your player understands.
Converter software came with your player; if you don't have it, you can download version 22.214.171.124 of the SigmaTel transcoder here: http://www.mympxplayer.org/smv-convert-tool-smv-transcoder-40-thu-apr-17-2008-727-am-df829.html

(Mac & Linux users - you're on your own. Sorry.)
The executables in these archives are identical. Here are their signatures for the cautious (which is everyone, yes?): MD5 file 77324c8e0eaf4c8e6d40a9b079cb8a58 DevIL.dll d0aaae16ba162dd89d646887f1539855 gdiplus.dll cdadb36a554694ec6d723ab33088a93b ILU.dll fcefe07a8a97e5e92cf2ca52c69a36ad ILUT.dll 831d5a068abbb4a1845ec210dcf9b791 libsndfile.dll f35a584e947a5b401feb0fe01db4a0d7 MFC71.dll 86f1895ae8c5e8b17d99ece768a70732 msvcr71.dll 5c51a668e081483a9741697038accc77 smv.dll 4140ff75fe581c8a16cbfb897a593edc video2smv.exe
SigmaTel's website (http://www.sigmatel.com/) is currently missing in action (damn all Chinese manufacturers anyway). If it reappears, you should also be able to find the transcoder there.
once you are there, click add to cart. then enter in your information (or make it up) and follow the steps, and you'll eventually get to a screen to download it. You basically enter in your information like your gonna buy it, but its $0.00 so its (obviously) free. I already did it myself.
