The quickest way to determine if the problem is in the amp, the wiring, or the speaker(s) is to disconnect all speakers at the amp and re-power. If it stays in protection, check your ground. If you are grounded to a seat bolt or side panel on the vehicle, move it to the floor. Scuff the surface, check underneath for wiring or fuel lines! and drill a new ground. If it's still in protection, meter the voltage at the amp, if it's lower than 9.6v, that's your problem. If it's 11-13v and still in protection, the problem is internal and the amp needs service. If the amp leaves the protection mode when you disconnect speaker(s), check speaker wire for loose/touching wires or cuts in the shield. If that's ok, meter the speaker for resistance. If your meter reads 1..... the voice coil is burnt. If it reads .....1 the spider or coil is open or cut and again is bad. If you don't have a meter, any car audio shop can test your spkr(s) in just a few minutes. If you need further help, post a comment and I can help you more.

That could indeed be the issue, but you must check your speakers, wiring, and also the oupt stages for problems. Maybe the prtection circuits are actually doing their job. lol

Hope that helps...

What does my protection light come on after hooking everything up

There is something shorting out the amp. What you will need to do is disconect all wires and hook up one at a time. Connect ground, !2 volt and remote see if amp turns on ok. If it does try connecting each speaker seperately to see if either one sends the amp into protect mode. Then connect the rca. See what causes the amp to go into protect mode.

My amp is protecting unessacarily when ran at 2 ohms

are you factoring the ohm rating from running them parallel?

2 x 2o subs parallel = 0.5 ohm (lowers ohm's)

2x 2oh subs series = 4 ohm

IT is posable that you are calculating the ohm rating fine, BUT some SUBS can reach lower ohm rating while hitting bass- i didnt know this till i had a rather insane sub that would dip to 1ohm while hitting hard bass causing my amp to go into protect mode.

Power light turns from green to red protect mode and then there is no sound coming from my speakers

there are 2 reasons for it to be going into protect mode 1 is heat 2 is the load on it. if it is going into protect mode soon after it starts there is a problem with the speaker. if it is after it has been on for a while it is that the amp itself is overheating. hope this answers your question

Amp is in protect mode, green light is on.

If the amp is going into protect, it likely has shorted output transistors. To eliminate other possible causes, read through the following page.

Amp going into protect mode

If you set the gain too high on the AMP, at loud volume levels some clipping or distortion of the output signal will occur. Most amps have a Circuit inside that detects this clipping or distortion and applies protection to prevent damage to the speakers and the amp. It would help to know if you are driving the speakers with a Line level output or using the speaker output from your deck. There are many things that can cause an amp to go into protect mode, and knowing a little more about your setup will help to solve the problem.

Prower acustic amp in protect mode

1) Make sure the amp is properly connected to +12V power source. 2) Make sure the amp is grounded well, directly to metal - if you have a voltmeter, an easy way to check the first two is to see if there are 12 volts across the power and ground wires. 3) Make sure the speaker output wires aren't touching each other. If none of these are the case, there is an internal problem with the amp and it should be serviced or replaced.
