Laptop Internal Speakers

How do you get the sound working on my laptop speakers. I've tried everything. I think the speakers are broken, because they used to work, and none of the settings have changed as far as I can tell. Any ideas?

When you plug headphones in, that opens the circuit on the speakers, so that you can avoid annoying people. If someone tried to put in a plug that was too large, or bumped it, the contacts could have gotten bent. If you can get at the inside of the headphone jack, you could probably bend it back to being in contact again.

After i plugged external speakers into my laptop, the laptops speakers stopped working. I've tried driver updates rollbacks re installs and pretty much everything else i can think of, being a mildly

The laptop speakers should only be cut out when the externals are plugged in. This is done by a little switch inside the jack. If it will not switch back and the external speakers still work fine then I would say that is definitely the problem. There is not much you can do if that is stuck. All the switch really looks like is a strip of metal that is like a spring. When you push the plug in it pushes this to the side and disconnects the internal speakers. The jack is mounted on the main board so you would have to locate the proper one and solder it on or replace the main board. Short of going that far I would see if inserting a jack a few times will get it to spring back. If there has been any spills on the laptop or it is gummed up inside you can use proper electronics connector cleaner. This is risky as it can damage the plastics but doesn't take much at all to work. I would look inside the plug and see if you can see debris or gunk. I'd also try knocking it. This is literally knocking around the switch like you are knocking on a door. You don't want to hit it really hard but just a few short sharp knocks will loosen things up with out causing damage. If you knock like the landlord looking for rent money then it might ;-]

Not sound on pc matherboard g33mo2 from dell

There was a problem with the internal speakers with this model.
Firstly, try a pair of external speakers plugged into the sound port, if these work , the issue lies with the internal ones.

If there is no sound through the external speakers, check that you have the sound driver installed, that the volume is set using the FN and F keys and that the sound icon on the desktop bar does not have a x through it indicating it is disabled.

You can download an updated sound driver from the Dell site, although i think Windows 7 comes with its own sound driver for this.

If the problem points to the internal speakers, you have a few choices:
Return the laptop to Dell under warranty (if it is under warranty)
Try to obtain a set of internal speakers and replace these
Takr the laptop to a computer shop and get them to check the internal speakers and repair if necessary

My Dell D620 lost audio on the laptop today. Went

Try system restore, if it fails, try to perform 32 bit dell diagnostics on the audio by booting the computer using the resource cd. make sure that the external speakers is disconnected. if still no sound on the diagnostics then you need to replace the internal speakers.

Stereo Speaker troubleshooting

It sounds like the audio jack itself has internal damage. Depending on how it is mounted on your laptop case, or possibly on an internal circuit board inside the laptop; it might be possible to repair the jack or replace with a new 1/8" audio jack. Some soldering skill may be required after disassembling the laptop and getting access to the jack.

Sound Card/Speakers[?] URGENT

Outside of actually replacing the internal speakers, have you tried hooking up external speakers to the headphone or line out jack on the laptop? That will tell us if it is actually the speakers themselves or a fault somwhere else. If they do work, then you need to replace or check the speakers inside the laptop to make sure that the wires have not come loose.

Aspire laptop speakers

Are you able to hear the sound when the headsets are used I think that cleaning up the speakers will not help a lot. If you can hear the sound from the headset but not from speakers, then I would suspect that the speakers are bad, the speakers are unplugged or some sound circuit on the system board is damaged. Try to reconnect the speakers first. The speakers are connected directly to the system board through 2 little connectors located below the keyboard connector.?
