Question about Dell Office Equipment & Supplies
Unhook the printer from your computer. Go to add/remove software and delete all software for the Dell printer. Restart computer. Do not plug the printer in at this time. Insert your Dell software for the printer and reinstall the software (if you do not have the software, dell.com will have it for free). Follow wizard and plug in when it tells you to. This should solve the problem.
Are you using Windows Vista?
If so, you may not need the software. Uninstall the Dell software and restart computer. Plug in the printer and it will read the printer (plug and play) or it will sedn you to Dells website for the plug and play software.
Vista is known to cause problems with printer drivers and the plug and play option is an alternative to these issues.

Hi, Most of the times, windows Vista has the drivers required for the printer. The problem is that sometimes it could be bugged. I strongly suggest that you install the HP drivers from the Hp.com website (install CDs would do the trick) Be sure you install the Windows Vista drivers and it should show up just fine. If you are already using the latest drivers from HP let me know.
