How do I remove/replace the keyboard from a HP Pavillion dv7-2277cl

1. Remove 6 screws from the bottom of the case (as shown). These screws hold the accessory cover.

2. Remove one screw securing the CD/DVD drive. Slide the CD/DVD drive to the left to disconnect it from the motherboard. Remove the CD/DVD drive.

3. Remove all marked screws from the bottom of the notebook.
The yellow circled screws secure the keyboard cover, and the green one secures the HP Pavilion DV7 keyboard.

4. Turn the computer display-side up and open it as far as possible. Insert a guitar pick or small flat screwdriver between the keyboard cover and case and slowly move along the side.

5. Lift the keyboard cover. Be careful, it's still connected to the motherboard. Release the zero insertion force (ZIF) connector and disconnect the cable from the LED board. Remove the keyboard cover.

6. Remove the four screws that secure the HP Pavilion DV7 keyboard.

7. Lift the rear edge of the HP Pavilion DV7 keyboard until it rests at an angle. Slide the keyboard back to disengage the tabs on the front edge of the keyboard from the top cover and rest it on the display.

8. Release the ZIF connector to which the keyboard cable is attached and disconnect the keyboard cable. Remove the HP Pavilion DV7 keyboard.

Cd/dvd combo drive problem

Pry up the long, thin plastic panel above the function keys. Remove the 2 screws that secure the keyboard (up top, under where the panel was). The cd has a couple of screws that I have seen work their way loose in the past. If you remove the screws and slide your cd out, you will see a black connector. Make sure the screws that secure the connector are tight too. Then reassemble. If your cd is seated properly, you should see it listed as a storage device on "my computer" from your start menu.

?The CD or DVD Drive is not inserted".....error message

You may have pressed the Fn (function key) and F10 by accident at some time, pres Fn and F10 again to turn off the embedded cursor keypad, this enables/dissables the light grey labeled keys. This is all i can find related to that key, otherwise the other function is a light to show the dvd is active, but that icon doesnt look like a 4 leaf clover. This may be the problem when you type, so either the keyboard sensors are faulty or turn off the Fn F10 cursor use, or go to my computer>right click>properties>hardware tab>device manager and in the next window look down to ythe line that says keyboards, click '+'sign and on the line below right click then select uninstall. Restart notebook and the keyboard will self install again hopefully the problem will be solved.
