The self-feed slips on my Dw 734 Planer.

I have had the same problem with my planer since it was new. I hate this planer. The way I fixed it was to pull the feed rollers off and put one washer in the hole the pressure springs are on the rollers. I also put about a 1/32 washer under the hold down plate for the roller. It allows the rollers to put more pressure on the wood. Now it works perfect. If it sounds complicated, it will all come together when you take it apart. You take the bottom off to do all this. Trust me it works and is worth the trouble to do it.

The rollers which feed the wood thru the planner arn't turning.

could be a loose set screw, chain problem or gear. You didnt specify what the model number is so I am just going from experience. Let me know what brand and model and I will try and find you a manual or breakdown for the tool.

Here are all the manuals for your planer:

User and parts,

See the right side of the page to download the pdf files. You will have to click the pront doc column where the pdf icons are located. Once you click the pdf icon it will give you the option to either save it or open it. The instruction manual is 9.16 mb

Thanks for choosing FixYa,

My 13" DEwalt Planer feed is slipping and leaving

Hello Ken,
The black marks you are seeing are most likely from the rollers that feed the material threw the planner. The marks are left on the board when the board stops but the feed rollers are still spinning. This occurs when the feed table is stickey with items such as pitch. I would clean off the table completly and wax it ( or some type of lube).
Another cause could be the matrial that you are using, if the stock is real rough it will not slide as easy as a smooth board.
I hope this helps.

Shop Dog.

P.S. after waxing or lubing the table run a scrap piece first to wipe off any excess.

I have a 15in Grizzly planner that undercuts the last 2in and have to pull the board out.

What you are talking about is called snipe, so common to planers they named it. If you measure the distance from the middle of your cutter head to the middle of the out-feed roller it will be the same as the snipe. It's a deeper cut at either of the board end and can be caused by incorrect feeding or misalignment of the in feed or out feed tables, or an unnecessarily high setting of the rollers recessed in the surface of the in-feed table. Some planers overcome this with table extensions and you can try to adjust your rollers to get rid of some of it but I haven't worked with any planers yet that didn't have some degree of snipe. The best way around it is to leave your stock over length to allow later trimming. If you have to pull the board out before it clears the out-feed roller, it may be worn, misaligned or not turning under power enough to pull the board all the way out of the cutter head area.

New DeWalt DW735 planner not pulling wood through machine

Planers were not designed to remove old finish, They were designed to plane new lumber which would be much softer., so likely the need for cleaning seems reasonable. I woudl think a wire brush on the serations of the feed rolers woudl serfice.
