Question about LG RH1999H DVD Recorder/HDD Recorder

Open Question

DVD setup will not list Foxtel chs. and now no display TV

I have a new DVD recorder RH397D and it will not recognise Foxtel channels. The drop down list below does not have my recorder ...it is probably too new so I clicked on another model.

AND for some reason it will not now display on the TV screen...although it did to start with. I think it is a channel problem but don't know how to fix it.

The DVD window is flashing 'prog 1' but the manual does not explain.

Help!

SOURCE: dstv to dvd recorder connection

  1. Grab your A/V composite wires and insert them into the Audio/Video OUTPUTS on the back of the satellite receiver. These are color-coded connections--red to red, white to white and yellow to yellow. The red and white connections are your audio feeds and the yellow is for your video.
  2. Look on the backside of your DVD/VCR dual recorder. You will see similar connections. Connect the other end of the composite wires to the Audio/Video INPUTS on the DVD/VCR dual recorder.
  3. With a second set of A/V composite wires, connect one end to the DVD/VCR dual recorder's A/V OUTPUT and the other end to the television's A/V INPUT. Again, be sure to follow the color code. Also, if your television has more than one available input, be sure to know to which one you made the connections (A/V 1, A/V 2, etc.).

SOURCE: LG RH266 setup with freeview tv

Sorry to say no it wont not unless the Tv set manuel says it has a Duel Freeview feed , you have to get another freeview box for the recorder .
besides If you used the freview in the tv 1 , the tv would have to be on when you wanted to record ?. and 2 you couldnt watch another channel whilst recording another .. only 1 tuner ?. also you could only record the program you had on .at the time no timer facility .
People are still used to the Old system of VHs and the fact that all videos had tuners built in so you could watch and record .. It will come and indeed some more modern DVD recorder have freeview built in again sorry but thats the facts , and dont forget if you want the pay per view channels on free view your going to need a tuner with a pay card port ... its simple ,HD stands for "high definition" and either your TV or DVD player cant do HD ,these channels will be only screened in HD ,this is why you cant watch them ,you will need to update one or both of them .THANKS for using FixYa

Cannot playback dvd-r on lg rh397d after recording from hdd. message is 'cannot playback due to navigation error' please help

When you burn a DVD, it is ONLY playable in the RH397D.
Buggy menus - and no way to flash the firmware.
Terribly designed remote.
HDD never seems to spin down, no matter how long it sits.
Doesn't play XVid.

I was a bit disappointed with this product. It does do, what is listed on the box, and one can't be too disappointed with that.

I can't get the recorder to keep my guide.

There might be a TV Guide issue located in your area, since the transition to digital, TV Guide have been updating there broadcast frequency which is know been done by CBS. Have unit reset by holding down channel up and down button for 15 second on the unit itself until 12 flashes on display, then power on unit and setup TV Guide, then have unit off for 24 hours especially between 11pm to 6am for listing. If issue still exist contact Panasonic to have issue send to TV Guide.

No display

Press the DVD button on the Philips remote. Make sure the yellow part of the RCA cable is plugged into Output/CVBS/Out on the back of the Philips, and that it is plugged into a yellow input of your TV. Change your TV channel to Av1, av2, video 1, video 2, aux, aux 2, or whatever the correct video channel is on your TV. Then press setup - you will get your picture.
In order for the coax connection to work on Ch. 3 of your TV, you will have to get an additional piece of equipment - an RF modulator. It's better just to stick with the RCA red, yellow, white cables.
