Question about Audio Players & Recorders

2 Answers

I have a Samsung YP-T7J that will power on when attached to my PC. It says fully charged and I have been able to sync info from and to my mp3 while it's attached to my PC. My problem is when I unplug I cannot get the darn thing to power on. I've tried to reset it a few times (20 and 30 sec before retrying to power it on) to no avail. Double checked to make sure it's not on hold (it's not.)I even updated my drivers. Help, this was an anniversary gift and I would love to keep it. I called Samsung and they told me to send it in for $75 and shipping (yeah um too much dough. I love it but not that much!) Any thing else I could try before recycling the little blue boombox?

This all took place before plugging in and updating the drivers. I've tried the laptop and have the same issue. I also switched out usb cords. The thing that gets me is that I can access information (I've synced music data to my pc and laptop) from the mp3 while it is plugged in to the computers. I even deleted info.

Would a different driver update possible help? The computer hardly seems to be the issue. The only thing I think of is some kind of short internally with the power button (crazy connection or something goofy that way.). Any other suggestions?

This might be a firmware problem also, please try to downgrade it to the original version itself if you done an upgrade. also check battery is connected properly and holding the charge.

I would try a few things:

Replace the USB cord. The cords go bad after a while because they are plugged in and out alot. If you have one available, try a car charger to charge up. A motorola cell phone car charger might fit, it has the same adaptor.

Try another computer as it may be a software issue that is locking the MP3 player up. Just plug it in and allow it to sit there for five minutes in a diffent computer.

Did this happen after you updated your firmware (drivers)? If so, it may have been a bad upgrade. This sometimes happens and it can cause a number of problems. Try to redownload and install the newest firmware here:

Lastly, this could have been a possible power surge in the device or your computer. I am not sure there is a way to test this but if none of the above work, it may be surged.

Deleteing recorded stuff

I had my YP-T7J since 2005 and it's only when I started to use Windows Vista that this problem occured. Since I just Synced the player with my media library, I just reformated the player just to delete the recorded audio and then just synced back the music files. Kind of a tedious work but it's worth it. There is no longer support for 2005 Samsung media players.
