Check your gas gauge to see if it is working correctly. Is there any dirt in the tank?

I have a 7 year Craftsman 17.5 HP 42 in. lawn tractor. It starts to leak gas recently and stops frequently after running over 30-40 minutes. I can not identified where is the gas leak from but I saw gas on...

I have a Craftsman mower. Last year I had a similar problem with the mower stopping after running awhile. I noticed that the plastic gas tank was collapsing. The next time it began to stall, I immediately loosened the gas cap and it didn't stall. The vent holes in the cap had plugged up. Check this out.
I can't help you locate the fuel leak, although it sounds like the carburetor float is not stopping gas from flowing into the carburetor.

When the float in the carb sticks, it allows fuel to drain into the cylinder, that runs pass the rings into the crankcase. When the crankcase is full the pistons cannot go down, and the starter won't turn the engine. Drain all the oil gas mixture, and refill with proper oil. Replace float, needle and seat in the carb bowl. Throughly clean fuel passages, and bowl. If motor won't turn, remove spark plug and turn over engine a few times to remove gas oil mixture from the cylinder too.

I have a Craftsman Riding mower 17 HP, 42"cut. It runs for ~30 minutes then shuts off like it's out of gas, but it's not. Won't restart for ~30 min. Can anyone help

check for fire to the plug after it dies....if there is no fire then its possible that the coil is breaking down and needs to be replaced.

My sears riding mower stops running when gas tank is about half way down, then cant restart until it cools down again. then will run for about 15 or 20 minutes then happens all over again.

Hi, W/D here.

Sounds like you're machine is pulling a partial vacuum on the tank when it is running, and starving itself for fuel. Check the fuel filler cap vent pinhole. If it is plugged, the mower will do just what you're saying.

Best regards, --W/D--

Engine only runs with choke full on. Dies when off full choke.

Hi Dave, it sounds crazy, but try this. Check your gas cap. It could be clogged, causing a vacuum to occur in the tank, and therefore not allowing the carb. to take on gas. It usually take 10-15 min. for this to occur. The next time you run the mower and it starts to stall out, loosen the gas cap and see if it begins to run again. If it does, then you know that the gas cap is clogged.

Weedeater lawn mower shuts off, but still has 3/4 tank of gas

On some mowers...if the gas cap vent is not working properly, it will run fine for about 15 or 20 minutes, start spitting and sputtering, if you loosen the cap, and let air back into the tank it starts running normally again.
