If that's the case you dont have any option here but to reload your operating system using a Vista installation CD for you to repair or better yet do a clean install on your computer.......

How to bypass gateway administration password windows vista

If you haven't upgraded to at least Win7 when the upgrade was offered from Gateway for just a few dollars, you really blew it. You need to call Gateway and if unavailable, try to locate a new Win7 operating system CD-Rom from a shop that HASn"T been used. Install the Genuine Microsoft Win7 CD-rom, after you back-up your harddrive into an external harddrive and install the upgrade to Win7. (We tekkies don't even bother with VISTA anymore... it was an unstable operating system that Microsoft lost a ton of money on.) If you need to figure out how to back your harddrive in a non-working PC or laptop, check my very thorough post (it's long) for Gateway that won't boot up.

Downgrade windows 7 to windows xp on compaq presario cq56

> downgrade to XP

Bad idea. Your CQ56 laptop was "designed for Windows 7". not for XP or Vista.

The only device-drivers on COMPAQ's web-site:

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&product=4326711

are for installing Linux, to replace Windows 7.

If you did install Windows XP, you'll probably have 800x600 video, no sound, no wireless, and no wired-network access. Not good.

So, do *NOT* try to "downgrade".

THE VISTA ON MY ACER ASPIRE 3680-2680 HAD PROBLEMS

Hi,

If you have no support discs & did not make a recoverty disc then you will have to contact the retailer you purchased the laptop from or Acer themselves. You should have documentation that will detail your product key though without this you may have issues getting the genuine copy of vista reinstalled. An alternative would be to buy a copy of windows 7 (if your laptop can take it) as it is far more stable & streamlined than Vista. or get a genuine copy of XP for cheaper.

Its probably also a good idea to take it back to the local computer guy & demand he reinstalls vista or gives you a genuine copy of XP. You can report him to the police for distributing illegal software too.

Acer Aspire 1690 cooling problem whit windows vista

Windows Vista is a very demanding Operating system when it comes to system resources and it doesnt come as a shock to hear that you computer runs warmly, If you werent experiencing any problems when you had windows XP installed, I would suggest downgrading to Window XP, otherwise wait for October 22 and purchase a genuine copy of Windows 7 and use that.

Downgrading from windows 7 beta to windows vista

Did you happen to make a recovery point? Vista is pretty good about this. Restart your system and push f8 until you get to the recovery and troubleshooting. Then just use recovery console and restore it to a previous point. If you cant do this you might need to do a fresh install of vista.

Downgrading vista to xp

Now you need to find a Windows XP install disk that can match the licence number printed on the sticker at the back of the laptop and reinstall XP using your serial key.
You will have to download and install also the XP drivers, you find them on manufacturer website.

Windows not installing

Sir please specify the Operating system which you want to install.

You can perform the following troubleshooting steps.

1) Your computer comes with a preinstalled operating system. The model also have recovery partition ( mostly in your D: drive) for installing Genuine Windows Vista Home Premium. You can use this recovery partition to install the operating system...

2) If you have created Recovery disks from the recovery partition then you can install the operating system from those disks.

3) If you have deleted the recovery partition and your recovery disks are damaged, then if your Notebook is under warranty , you can get recovery disks from HP with out any cost( FREE).

For more information contact HP 24X7 chat support.

For drivers you can visit the following HP link and select the operating system and download the drivers...

Not possible xp installation

How to Downgrade Vista to XP Downgrading from Windows Vista to Windows XP is almost like installing Windows XP for the first time. You should take all the normal precautions like backing up all your important files and record important passwords in a different place, preferably on a CD. When you downgrade from Windows Vista to XP, note that Windows Vista will be completely removed from your system.
(Note: There is a way to have both Vista and XP in a dual boot configuration, but that's an option for more advanced users. See Dual Booting Vista and XP for more info on that.)
Before you begin the XP installation, make sure that the necessary XP hardware drivers are available, or included on the XP disk provided by your PC vendor. If in doubt, check the vendor's website or poke around with your favorite search engine to see if others have attempted the XP install on the same hardware. You may be able to install XP without all the needed drivers, but some hardware may not work afterwards.
Also, make sure that you have a genuine Windows XP CD before you begin the downgrade. Be sure to read the section earlier in this article to see if you qualify for a low/no cost XP recovery disk from your PC vendor. If not, perhaps you have an XP disc that came with another computer. If you've upgraded an existing computer from XP to Vista, the best choice would be the XP install/recovery disc that came with that computer. One some PC's the vendor doesn't ship a CD, but the recovery CD can be created from disk images on the hard drive. If all else fails, you can always buy a copy of Windows XP on Ebay. Just be sure it's a legal, licensed copy.
Follow these steps to install Windows XP on your Vista machine:
  • Insert your Windows XP install/recovery CD and restart your computer.
  • Install Windows XP normally, providing either the product key that came with the disk, or the one you got from Microsoft customer support. If the installer warns you that another copy of Windows is already installed, don't worry. Remember, this install will wipe out your existing Vista installation.
  • Activate your copy of Windows XP when it prompts you to do so. If you run into the "already activated" problem, you can use the option to activate by phone.
  • If you own Vista Business or Vista Ultimate, explain to the rep that you want to use your Downgrade Rights to install XP Pro.
  • If you own Vista Home Basic/Premium, or you are installing XP Home Edition, don't mention ANYTHING about Vista. Just give the rep your XP product key (not the Vista key), explain that you are installing XP on a new hard drive, and tell them you need to activate.
