Copies with the Brother Fax-T104

When I try to make a copy of a document in my Brother Fax-T104 and I press the Copy button twice as instructed, all I get is a triple sound but nothing happens. Any suggestions?

    Dear Logjam,
Thanks for your response. Yes, I can send a normal fax. And in the past I have been able to make copies. At first I thought the problem was a matter of introducting the paper for the copy. But recently, once I've verified that the paper ia properly placed, it still doesn't work.
Otherwise, it's a great little machine for faxes.
    Thanks for your help.

I'm sure you're right that the cost of the machine doesn't justify an exhaustive answer, and if I didn't have my wife breathing down my neck to get the copying function working, I wouldn't give a flying f... about whether it worked or not. But with the little Mrs. giving me hot air each time she can't make a copy, it is worth seeking a solution. Yes, we have a scanner, but it isn't enough for her highness, so I am seeking a solution.
    Best,
    Tim Fox

I presume that it is possible to send a fax normally? To make a copy, the machine is basically sending a fax to itself. Therefore if it is possible to send a normal fax and setting the paper to make a copy in the same way as faxing doesn't allow the copy button to work, then the fault is in the machine. Believe me this machine isn't worth spending money on.

The triple "beep" that you hear is because the paper is not detected by the read sensor. Now, if as you say you can send a fax normally, then the logic of one of the gates is faulty, or being changed by a false input. These gates are integrated in a chip somewhere on the main fax board. The problem could be as simple as a stuck button, or as complex as a faulty chip. I have in the past "cured" a problem like this simply by hitting all the buttons one at a time. If this don't work, try and get another machine, rip out the circuit board and exchange. Best of luck

Printer will not print more than one copy even though I have selected more than one.

Press the 'copy' button to change the printer from 'fax' to 'copy' first, then enter the number of copies you require, then press start - if you enter the number of copies when the printer is still on 'fax' and then change to 'copy' the number of copies will reset to '01' (this is to stop you printing a telephone number of copies by mistake).

How to do copies,ie what buttons do i press

Making a Single Copy

Place the original face down in the ADF.
2 Press Copy/Help twice.
To cancel, press Stop.
Do NOT pull on the paper while copying is in progress.

Fax T 104, can recieve but not send. Can hear the fax signal fro

When you hear the fax signal press the start button on your machine. If this does not work attempt to just make a copy of a document without sending to test the document feeder - help the document by gently pushing the document into the machine when it should be feeding. If you can feel the machine trying to grab it but it doesn't have enough strentgh or it will feed with your help then the feed rollers are probably dirty and you may be able to open up the top cover and clean the rubber rollers with alcohol or degreaser. If the feed rollers do not even turn when trying to make a copy then you may have a motor, belt or clutch problem. If it copies well but will not send, then you will probably have a modem or fax lead problem. Try a new fax lead.

Automated Document Feeder Problem

It sound like the paper is not getting recognised by the original sensor. Check for an obstruction in the feedpath - piece of paper, paper clip, pin, cockroach, apple core, tube of cake decorator (I've seen it all). Do this by opening the control panel cover (the one you open when you replace your cartridge and look through where the original feeds. Also see if the original sensor arm is in place. In the white plate there will be a black arm. The original sensor arm will be directly behind this sensor.

Fax Not working

Copying Documents If you make copies of multiple documents at a time, the number of pages the fax can scan into memory varies depending on the scanning resolutions as follows: * STANDARD and FINE result in the same resolution when making copies
* If MEMORY FULL appears on the LCD when making copies, reduce the number of documents to be copied or reduce the amount of total copies.
  1. Lift up the document tray.

  2. Insert the top of the document, face up, into the ADF (1) until a beep is heard.
  3. Adjust the document guide to the width of the document.

  4. Press <Resolution> to select the resolution.
You can select [STANDARD], [FINE] or [PHOTO].
  5. Press <Start/Copy>.
  6. Enter the number of copies (up to 99) using the numeric buttons.
To make a correction to the number of copies, press <Clear> and re-enter the number.
  7. Press <Start/Copy>.
To stop copying anytime, press <Stop>. If the document does not eject, press <Start/Copy> for a few seconds, then the fax will feed out the document.
  8. The new resolution will remain until it is changed.
