Question about Malibu ML600TW - Low Voltage Power Pack - 600 Watt - With Timer and Ground

1 Answer

My Malibu light timer gets stuck at the time they are supposed to turn on AND at the time they are supposed to turn off. So if I turn them on manually, they stay on all night if I am not awake to go out and turn them off manually as well.

The small motor that runs the time clock is bad. If it stops the motor when it comes to the start and stop clips, it's done. Replace it.

300 watt power pack should have 300 watt load.
You have 165 watt load.
Copy following link for general tips to get Malibu power pack to last longer.

Problem might be the photo eye.
http://waterheatertimer.org/images/Malibu-8100-9045-01-large.jpg
Rotate manual dial to ON position and see if lights turn ON.
Keep in mind the digital power pack has photoeye that is light sensitive, and must be exposed to dark light to activate.
For timed functions. Rotate manual dial until it points at timer. Press clock set function button, and use up-down buttons to set current time. Press timer ON button, and then use up-down to set ON timer. Then press timer OFF button , and use arrow keys to set OFF time.

This product has 1 year limited warranty, contrast with old-type analog power pack with 5-year warranty.
Malibu does not even post a manual on their site, which might have troubleshoot section to illuminate why your system has problem,

When dial gets stuck at tripper, then clock motor has gotten weak.
1) Some people report taking apart the clock motor, cleaning gears, and adding vaseline to gears.
-Some people write and ask how to put gears back together after taking timer apart.
-Some people find the gears are stripped.
-There are no replacement clock motors or timer modules for Malibu/Intermatic timers.

Does dial rotate as time passes?
Does dial keep good time?
Have you put the black and red trippers in place?
Are trippers push all the way down?
Have you set current time by rotating clock dial 2 full turns before rotating dial to current time?

It has stopped clicking over so my lights won't go on a night. I unscrewed the top but I can't get the timer out. Seems to be stuck on the post that that turns the lights on or off. Help!

If you undid the dial it may not be repairable. Try to replace the dial if you can. With the dial in place there should be some wedge shaped pieces with screws that attach to the dial. They're usually black and white or gold and silver. The white or silver usually turn on the timers switch and the black or gold usually turn it off. To set the time pull out on the dial face and turn it to the correct or near correct time. If the dial doen't turn then the timer is most likely burned out.
