Question about Dell Latitude D600 Notebook

1 Answer

I recently upgraded my RAM and now the LatD600 runs really hot

The heat comes primarily from the left side of the mouse touchpad. It's too hot to even rest my wrist on. I've tried elevating the machine to allow air to flow around it. I've also run a fan on it. I'm a student so I do need to be on the computer for long periods of time. Any solutions!?

Make sure you installed compatible RAM into your computer. If you're running RAM that is made for a slower speed, it will overheat.

Testimonial: "Thanks. How do I check that? The RAM? I installed the RAM that Dell recommends for the LatD600. I installed two 1GB RAM cards. "

Tiger Direct dot com has a memory checker. You can find out exactly what your specific computer takes and what the total capacity is.

Dell optiplex GX620 loud processor fan noise like a vaccum. I upgraded to windows 7 and also upgraded to 4gb of ram and a new hd video card as well as a 1tb hd. I bought 4 more gbs of ram but windows...

I don't think you can install 8gb of ram into that desktop. If the processor fan is too loud check it for dust or any other obstructions. If there aren't any try replacing the fan - it could be a bearing in the fan.

My acer aspire 5742Z touchpad is too sensitive or I don't really know how to use it. Every time I touch it something stupid happens on screen. Now it has turned my screen dispay side on and I have to use...

Definitely your touchpad is TOO SENSITIVE!
To modify the sensitivity just go
START > CONTROL PANEL > MOUSE/TOUCHPAD and adjust there the sensitivity by dragging the cursor to the LEFT until it reaches the middle.
In PROPERTIES just re-invert the functions of your touchpad to get rid of the mixed axes.

When I'm typing something, it sometimes will "skip" to a different line or spot. If I don't watch it constantly, I will have to go back and re-do alot of work, VERY ANNOYING

This problem is often caused by an over-sensitive touchpad mouse on the laptop. Make sure your thumbs aren't brushing it as you type. Other solutions are: Update the touchpad drivers to make sure you have the best fit or attach an external mouse via a USB port and disable the touchpad mouse from Control Panel.

Tuch pad not working as it should work

With most Laptops, Touchpad (or mouse) issues are caused by the driver especially if the operating system was recently upgraded or new application installed: I suggest that you re-install the Touchpad/Mouse driver specific to your Laptop and Operating system: a drivers CD/DVD normally comes with your Laptop or download it from Dell web site. Depending on the O/S, you could as a first step, delete the driver from Control Panel/Systems, Reboot and let the O/S either re- install the existing driver automatically or prompt you for the correct driver. Hope it helps.

Thin and wide white lines on screen

Yes, your screen most likely is going bad, the only other reason for lines and distortion is a loose data cable that runs up the back of the lcd panel on the left side. For the touchpad, go to the control panel > Mouse > look at the top of the window and look for the device properties. open this tab and look for your touchpad listed. Highlight it and click on the settings button. Go through these settings and make sure that tapping is enabled. Even if it is, you may consider updating the drivers for the touchpad.

Toshiba laptop touchpad not working properly

Boot Toshiba disk to your CD ram. If you are using Toshiba Satellite 2410 it will only work with CD marked with its own model or any model of it. Open CD drive and look for Toshiba touchpad driver and install this to your PC notebook.
