Was it running before the points change?
If so...go back into the dist and check for proper point gap and check for grounded wires/connections in the dist.
if it was not running before the points change....did you check for spark?
Did you check for fuel?
Where the plugs wet or dry?
Wet plugs may mean lots of fuel........and no spark.
Are the plugs back?
It won't start on carbon coated plugs.

Are you getting battery voltage to the coil from the key?

Verify the point gap is set right and that you are getting a good spark. Check to see if you are getting fuel to the carb.

How can I set gas/air mix screw?

A good place to start is 2 and a half turns out and play about from there.
Screw the adjuster all the way in to a soft seating. DO NOT force it, just screw it gently until it seats itself gently otherwise you will damage the seat or screw face. Now start unscrewing it counting the turns. I count quarter turns and 10 quarters is 2 and a half.
Fire up the bike and let it warm up and idle. Turn the screw in a quarter and see if it runs better, if it does then this is your base point. If it runs worse, screw it back out a quarter to the original starting point and then screw it out a further quarter. If this is better then that becomes your base point. Basically the base point is the best current setting that you know of. Start working from this base point adjusting and noting the changes until you get the smoothest running. Always write down your settings as you alter them and you will remember where you are. Remember you can always start over again, just don't damage the seating.

1969 jeep with inline 4 cylinder changed points started nice 2 days later turns over im getting spark n fuel but not starting

Did you check the dwell angle after you installed the points? You need to remember that dwell (point gap) effects timing, but timing doesn't effect dwell. You should also replace your condenser and make sure to clean (wire brush) where it mounts to the dist.

My 1988 chevy silverado turns over to long before starting, it starts every time but long of turn over time,i've changed filters, injectors, wires, plugs

I have seen this kind of problem once. it cost 1800$ to ESSO
you have to know that the flash point of fuel is different
empty your fuel tank like usually and fill her up with new fuel at another gas station
flash point is the temperature where the fuel will ignite without spark. the flash point in summer is low and in autumn or winter is high

Changed plug wires now cant start

Check for the right location by turning crankshaft till at zero degrees on the pointer scale-the timing scale. Then look at rotor position: should be either pointing to No. 1, or will be pointing directly opposite if you are on the exhaust stroke (TDC) of No. 1. Turn the crank one revolution, and come back to the zero mark. If rotor was pointed opposite before, it should now be directly at the number 1 plug wire tower.

I have a 1964 Plymouth Belvedere 225 slant six it ran well before I changed plugs and points......

go back to the distributor and points
the condenser wire and the moving points have to insulated from the fixed point and I feel that your problem is in this area
to check this turn the motor over until the points are closed turn the ignition switch to run and use a plastic rod ( like a knitting needle ) open the points
you should get a spark if the moving point has been properly installed as by opening the point you interrupt the current flow to ground and as current has mass , it will jump across the points as they are opened
if you do not get that spark across the points , refit the points ensuring that the moving point is properly insulated by the plastic bush ( in right way with the flange on the bottom and fiber washer under the nut on top and the spring properly insulated on the condenser wire
what ever you do the wire from the coil is attached to that spring and it has to be insulated right up to the points

I have a coleman model 525202 with a 10 hp tecumseh when idling it pops and runs bad but as soon as i put a load on it it smooths out i have replaced the plug gap is at 30 changed fuel and air filter...

Hello; Make sure all the moving parts on the carb are free especially the governor shaft going into the front of the engine.Use Gumout or PB Blaster to free up parts. Then start it up with no load. Turn the needle valve on the bottom of the carb counterclockwise until it starts to sputter out. mark this point in your mind and then turn valve in clockwise. Engine will smooth and then start to die. Back needle off to a point halfway between these points. If it is way off turn in carefully till it seats, then back out 1 1/2 turn to get it to start. You may still have to do a touch up when you put it under load. John

1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.0 4 wd - changed wires, distributor cap and rotor - now it will not start? Did verify the firing and that all were plugged in correctly.

If the wires are in the correct order, also make sure that you used the correct starting point, otherwise the base timing can be off by as much as 60 degrees. Turn the engine till the crank damper timing mark is pointing to 0 or tdc on the timing scale. If the rotor is pointing towards the engine, turn one more time. #1 is roughly when the rotor is pointing towards the passenger headlamp. Order is in the direction the rotor turns when cranking. If the engine was running with no problems before the change, only other thing could be that you inadvertently unplugged something or the security system armed. Other possibility is that if you did the change due to a running problem, whatever was causing that finally failed.
If when you remove the cap again you find that the rotor is damaged, check the dist shaft for side play.
Are you getting spark?

Changing starting point

You can use the Intinerary function where you can set up multiple waypoints and it takes you from the first one to the next, in turn, until the final destination is reached.
