Turns over not starting changed points

Verify the point gap is set right and that you are getting a good spark. Check to see if you are getting fuel to the carb.

Was it running before the points change?
If so...go back into the dist and check for proper point gap and check for grounded wires/connections in the dist.
if it was not running before the points change....did you check for spark?
Did you check for fuel?
Where the plugs wet or dry?
Wet plugs may mean lots of fuel........and no spark.
Are the plugs back?
It won't start on carbon coated plugs.

Are you getting battery voltage to the coil from the key?

I have a craftsman lawn tractor lt1000 model #917.272084. The engine runs but very weak and eventually make explosions and then it stops running. Can you please help me figure out my problem. Need to cut my lawn soon.
