My LCD model LN-S4095D has no picture or sound. To check whether if the TV is bad, I used Samsung remote to turn on, then source, then menu, and saw on the screen " weak signal ". Is this correct?

Somewhat, take a dvd player and plug it into av1, switch your source to that and see if it's normal.

Assuming your T.V. is set up right, That is, the cable input matches the select input on the remote control check this, try clicking around the input choices while you feed the computer output to the to the T.V. Otherwise you may need to check for a other coveter boxes, It stands to reason, one way or another, you should be able to see the computer image on that T.V. model.

Hello Dsidneysis,
It appears that this failure could be in the power supply due to swelling/ bulging capacitors in the power supply.

Samsung LN-TFT-LCD Television

The first time this happened to me, I unplugged the power cable from the back of the TV and then held the power button on the front in for 5 minutes. Its tedious but, it clears the memory out of the TV and should work.
The second time it happened my first method didn't fix the problem.  So try this:
1. Press "MENU" on the remote. If you're problem is the same as mine, then the menu is jumping around very eratically so you'll have to time your button presses accurately.
2. In the  "Picture" Category turn ON: DIGITAL NR, DNie Demo, Film Mode, and Blue Screen.
3. Exit the Menu, and Unplug the Television.
I let my Tv sit for about 2 weeks before I turned it on again, but when I did the "Not Available In Current Mode" message was gone, but replaced with smaller blue message boxes that say DigNR, DNie, and Film.  I then went back into the MENU and turn OFF: DIGITAL NR, DNie Demo, and Film Mode and the problem was gone!

Source picture changing by itself

litigation- O.k if your tv is cycling through the menu ect. it sounds like you have a bad tact switch.Try pressing the contol panel buttons repeatedly, most of the time the remote is used so the tact switches go bad. Try this out ,it may help to clean the contacts. Just make sure you press them alot,it helps most of the time,if not you may wind up in the repair shop.Have fun and let me know. cooltek Mar,4/08

Picture appears to be cracked

It is cracked. Maybe not the first layer, but for sure the lcd is cracked. This is the reason why you found it on the garbage. The lcd panel is way more expansive like the tv itself. You can sell it on ebay for parts.
