To get the front of the washer off, First open the top and remove the screws that hold the front on. To open the top, insert a putty knife, or any other thin, flat, stiff object into the crack between the top and front of the machine. About 2" from both ends, there is a spring latch. Slide the putty knife over until you can feel it. Pull the knife out part way and push it in to push the latch toward the back of the machine. You have to undo both latches to open the top. Once you get the first one unlatched, put something like the end of a clothespin or a popsicle stick in the space, so it doesn't relatch.

The washer (#WBSR3140GWW) does not spin on the spin cycle and the clothes come out very wet. What could be wrong??

Hello,

The most probable trouble is the belt is streched and needs replacing. To replace belt remove front panel by placing a putty knife about two inches inward from the ends of front panel push the putty knife in and release clips for front panel.remove panel and belt will on bottom under the motor. On a lot of GE washers the oil in transmission leaks and soaks belt in oil so soon new belt will be oil soaked and needing replacment again if ya see a lot of oil in base belt will fix temporarly till its oil soaked, the fix then is to replace washer since trans. replacement is more than new washer

My washer wont spin or agitate and there was a burning smell

Hi
Older top load washers use a belt to drive to transfer the energy from motor to drum. However, if the belt slips, stretches, or breaks, it can cause friction and a burning smell, most likely a burning "rubber" smell. The belt is located either from the back access panel or from the underside of the washer. The solution is to replace the belt with a new one. To replace the belt you can open the back lid of the washer
To replace the belt carefully pry up on front washer top to release plastic keeper pins, remove 2 Phillips screws from beneath lower front washer panel, slightly lift upward on panel to release. Now remove old broken belt, push new belt beneath large tub pulley and put belt on small motor pulley. After this push back belt tension /idler arm, start belt on large tub pulley, turn tub pulley by hand to run belt on, release tension on idler arm. Replace front panel and lower top.
Hope this helps... Please post back if you need more information.

Washer does not agitate or spin after cycles but fills and empties water and motor is going

Belt is broken. Remove front cover of washer. If you look where top meets front in the seam there are two clips, using a flat head screwdriver push into seam and pop clip. Front will then remove. Check belt at bottom of unit. Replace with the same belt. Difficult to get new belt on! You have to start with belt on motor pulley then on drum pulley holding and turning drum pulley as you stretch belt around pulley. Replace front cover.

How do I replace the washer belt

Remove the front panel to the washer. Screws across the bottom. Push down on the front panel, then pull it out. Belt should go around transmission, motor pulley and tension roller.

Changing the belt on a GE front loading washer

Hello , i can try to help , I have always got these belts on by starting the belt on the small pulley/motor , then rolling it on the large pulley , kinda like putting a bike chain on. Let me know if you have any other questions and how it turns out.

How do I change the washer belt on a Maytag Washer #LAT2500AAE

I figured out that the belt went on the bottom of the dryer. It was actually very easy to fix once I realized where the belt went. I made the mistake of opening the front cover of the washer first, which is why I did not see where to put the belt. Apparently, if the washer is not level (since I had too much for a load and it caused the washer to pull out from the wall), the belt shook itself loose.

How do I take the front cover off a Maytag MAV4755AWW washer to change the belt for spinning the drum?

Although I'm not familiar with that particular model, most Maytag washers have the belts under the washer (no need to remove the front panel) --- just tip the washer back and check to see if the belts are underneath.
