Question about HP Pavilion DV5234US Notebook Laptop

Windows data execution prevention won't allow itunes to open!

Everytime I try to open itunes data execution prevention on Vista won't allow it to open Itunes, I've tried changing the settings on DEP and rebooting, but it doesn't fix the problem.

I'm hoping there's someone else that has had this problem and found a fix for it?

Ok try this then.
Press [windows]+Pause/Break to open the system menu (or control panel -> system) and press advanced systems settings on the side. Go to the advanced Tab, and press settings. Go over to the D.E.P. (Data Execution Prevention) tab, and press add, then add in iTunes and whatever else you need.

My HP Photosmart Printer keeps printing out a blank page between each page i want printed and i dont know how to fix it. Please Help its a pain fishing out blank pages.

For windows XP & Vista
Check the function after every step.

Step One: Power Cycle with printer

1. Use the On/Off power button to turn off the printer.
2. Disconnect the USB cable from the rear of the printer.
3. Disconnect the power cable from the electrical outlet.
4. Allow the printer to sit for at least 30 seconds.
5. Reconnect the USB cable.
6. Reconnect the printer power cable.
7. Turn on the printer using the On/Off power button on the printer

Step Two: Disable DEP (Data Execution Prevention).

Disable the Data Execution Prevention in Windows Vista and check by following the below steps:
1. Click on Windows Icon.

2. Control Panel->System->Advanced System Setting->Performance->Settings->Data Execution Prevention

It needs to be set to "Turn on for essential windows programs only", which is the default.

If you set it to "Turn on for all programs except those I specify", then the all-in-one driver stops working and you get blank pages.

Alternate Option for DEP
Right Click on My Computer.
Select Properties, under the Advanced tab.
Properties --> Settings --> Data Execution Prevention.

Step Three: Check the option of Separator page.

Please refer the below mentioned web link for better understanding the steps with graphics.

Note: Clicking the link may give an error indicating it is invalid. If this occurs, copy the portion of the address on the remaining line(s) and paste it at the end of the address showing in your browser until the complete address.

Step Four: Print directly from printer

Window Vista problem??

If you receive this error message or encounter difficulties when attempting to launch Pro Tools using Windows Vista disabling DEP may solve the problem.

This option disables "Data Execution Prevention", a feature of Windows that can sometimes cause errors. This won’t harm anything, but also isn’t always necessary.

How to Disable DEP:

1. Click "Start"
2. Click "All Programs"
3. Click "Accessories"
4. Right Click on "Command Prompt"
5. Left click on "Run as Administrator"
6. Click the Allow button if it asks you for permission
7. Type or copy and paste this into the command prompt window:

bcdedit.exe /set {current} nx AlwaysOff

8. Hit enter and you should see the confirmation: Operation Completed Successfully
9. Reboot and DEP should be off.

If you would like to re-enable DEP enter the following into the command prompt window:
bcdedit.exe /set {current} nx AlwaysOn

Hit enter and you should see the confirmation: Operation Completed Successfully. After restarting the computer, DEP will be re-enabled.

Installing AVG 8.5 on Windows XP professional getting error 0xc0070002. What is the fix?

Your computer's processor blocked an activity of a program by stopping the computer from working to prevent the activity from being executed (also known as DEP or Data Execution Prevention) and giving such error instead.
Try turning off the DEP for all programs by:
- opening Start > Control Panel > System
- Click on 'Advanced' tab
- In the performance area, click 'Settings' button
- A new window will appear
- Click on 'Data Execution Prevention' tab
- Click on the upper radio button (run DEP only for Windows services)
- Restart your computer

If it doesn't work or is turned off for all programs already then there seems to be a problem with your Windows (since you said that IE takes 100% CPU process), or the antivirus program isn't really compatible with your hardware and/or driver software.

thanks and regards

Data Execution Prevention (DEP) is a security feature that helps prevent damage from viruses and other security threats by monitoring your programs to make sure they use system memory safely.

Whie it will show you how to turn DEP on, it will also take you to the control panel that will aloow you to adjust your settings.

Data execution prevention

  • DEP help's prevent damage from visuse's and other security threat's that attack memory location's on your pc, by default (DEP is turned on for essential window's program's and service's only, it may be possible DEP has been turned on for all program's and service's except those you select, you can check this setting by,
  • going to the control panel,
  • click on system,
  • under the system propertie's box click the advanced tab,
  • in the advanced tab click setting's under performance,
  • from there you will get a performance option's box,
  • at the top to the right there will be a tab that say's Data Execution Prevention, click the tab.
  • from there it should be set to essential window's program's and service's only, this is the default setting.
