2 red rings come on right after starting a game.

- notice poor game performance (if your games start taking a long time to load, or they become stutter or crash, it may be indicative of a looming hardware failure)
-notice poor system performance (if your system locks up, even when not playing games, this is a sign of hardware failing).
- understand the different light codes
Green-green lights indicate that console is powered and operating properly
1 red light-Hardware fault. Usually followed by E74 code on TV
2 red lights-overheating error. If the console becomes too hot, the system will shut down and display this light code
3 red lights-general hardware failure also known as the red ring of *****
4 red lights-AV cable isnt currently plugged in

If you do get red ring of *****:
- purchase a fix kit
-have console professionally fixed
-have console sent in to microsoft
-Prevent red ring of *****-understand what causes hardware failure
-keep your system in a well ventilated area
- avoid long gaming sessions
-keep system horizontal
-avoiding stacking items on xbox
-clean gaming area
-dust xbox

Hi,Turn on unit until the red light flashes and the error code(E 73) shows up on the screen. Next insert toothpicks in the back of the console(while unit is running) into the cooling fans, this is to suppose to overheat the console and start two red lights flashing. Turn off console when this happens(unplug all cords from console) and turn the system back on.

you need to do the red ring repair call me and i will take you through it even though the lights are green freezing is the first warning you get before red rings

You should send the xbox in call 1-800-4myxbox mine started to do that right before it got the red ring of death(three flashing red lights)

im guessing this is an xbox.....which leads me to beleive what we like to call the "3 red ring of death" which is not good.

there is no easy homemade fix to this problem better get on the phone with microsoft and get started on sending yours back unless you have a warrenty with the store you bought it from.
