Question about Whirlpool Duet GHW9150P Front Load Washer
F21 indicates a long drain. To fix this it is simple.
#1: Remove the 3 torx head screws that hold the front kick panel on. To get these off you may have to have a second person tilt the washer back a little so you can get the screw driver in there. If you don't have a torx 15 bit, you can use a 1/4 inch nut driver.
#2 You will see the pump basically in the middle of the machine on the bottom. (it will have a plastic piece that looks like a lid that screws into the pump) Before you remove that put the machine into "drain and spin cycle". Get out your wet vac and have it ready. (if you don't have a wet vac have several old towels ready to shove around the drain)
#3 SLOWLY start turning the cap counter clockwise. Have your shop vac right beside the cap to **** up the water. **Warning there is a lot of water that will come out this is why you must do it slowly**
#4 Continue to unscrew the cap while the machine is in the drain spin cycle. Once you have gotten the cap out (this may take several minutes if you don't want to make a huge mess with stinky water) you will most likely find a large build up of fabric or lint or pocket change.
It's always a mystery what you'll find in the filter!! Good luck!!

"F21" is a Long Drain error code. This indicates that you have an obstruction in the drainage system. More than likely you probably have a clog in the drain pump. The following link explains:
Included is a follow-on link that explains how to check the drain pump to clean. You may also have to remove the inlet hose that runs from the bottom of the wash tub to the inlet side of the drain pump. Debris can commonly clog in this area as well causing the drain cycle to fail.
If you have any questions about this repair, or need additional assistance, please let me know. I hope this helps you.
NOTE: If these preliminary measures do not correct your problem, you may have to replace the drain pump. It does not take much to damage the pump impeller or motor. Since the error code is generated if the drain cycle exceeds 8 minutes, if the pump is damaged and can't pump at the required volume, the error code will continue to appear until the pump is replaced.
NOTE: The "SUDS" error can commonly occur with the F21 error code as this is usually generated when air is sensed in the drainage system.
