My Safari is not opening at all, and has not for over 24 hours. What's going on? What comes up on the screen when I click on it is a blank sheet with "untitled" at the top. Help, please.

My Safari does not open, that is, it puts up a page titled "untitled." That's all it has done for about four days now. It does not respond to anything. Thank you.

Help, I have MacBook Air and it won't install new require Flash version....it keeps telling me I need to quite safari but I don't have safari open...hours and hours of wasted time.

Camille,

Although you might not have Safari open where you can see it it might still be running as a process. Open Activity Monitor and select Memory, scroll down the list of items using memory and see if you see anything related to Safari still active in memory. If you find something, double click on it and another window comes up with information about the process. Select at the bottom quit. There are two options to quit first is quit second is force quit. If quit alone does not remove the process then you will have to force quit the process. A word of warning although this is an easy way to quit processes that are not responding, or not closing be careful some processes are system processes and if shut down forcibly can cause the system to lock or crash. I have not heard of any damaging effects from this besides data lose in apps that were open but always be careful.

How to connect facebook to my safari browser and get gmail delivered to my mail

Safari is the chosen browser it sounds like and Chrome is your preference for which search engine will be used. Breathe. This is a preference change that is a couple of straightforward clicks from being exactly how you want it.

1. Close everything so we limit confusion if thats ok.
2. Click on Safari at the bottom of your screen to open your Safari browser.
3. Once open, click on the word Safari at the top of your computer screen next to the picture of the apple in the top left corner. Thats the menu bar and what we want. Don't over think it and try to find something in the actual browser window.
4. When you single click Safari a list will appear with About Safari at the top. We want to select (click) the third one down that says preferences.
5. This will cause a large square box to appear in the middle of your screen. It has General centered at the top.
6. Get excited because your almost done.
7. Just below General in the first 2 square boxes are your "preferences" for your browser and search engine. They should say google or chrome for your search engine based on your question. Click the box and change the preference to Safari or whatever you would like to use.
8. You did it. Dance a jig and be a wildcat. Change those whenever you want.

If you have more problems then ask again. 40fb01b8-8524-45fc-83da-3bef201284a0.png a0d46401-fdaa-4b2d-a144-7fe9fc93d17b.png

I have a MacBook Air, OS X, using Safari. I have been away from Macs for 10 years and just bought the laptop, so trying to reintroduce myself. I can't find where to turn off the pop up blocker for certain...

Block pop-ups on webpages

  1. Open Safari if it is not already open.
  2. Choose Safari > Preferences, and then click Security.
  3. Turn on "Block pop-up windows."

Blocking pop-up windows stops only those windows that appear when you open or close a page. It does not block pop-up windows that open when you click a link.

If you block pop-up windows, you might miss important information for a webpage. For example, a website that provides services to you might use a pop-up window to request your user name.

Block unnecessary webpage content

  1. Open Safari if it is not already open.
  2. Choose Safari > Preferences, and then click Security.
  3. In the "Web content" section, select or deselect types of content you want to block or enable. For an explanation of the options, click the Help button (looks like a question mark).

Why does Googlemail keep freezing on me - I can't navigate my way around to open an email, delete spam or go to any other box

Hello
This could come from your browser (Safari?) that needs to be updated, or cleaned. To clean the cache, go in the safari menu and click on the empty cache option. To update your safari, go in the apple menu and select software update. If this does not help, please try another browser like firefox, or google chrome.
Hope this helps

Safari frozen and scrambled

Hello and Welcome to FixYa!

Is the safari browser still open? If yes then press the home screen button and keep holding it until you see a re-spring (you see the home screen icons again). After this turn the iPod off my holding the power button at the top until you see a slider. Slide it and wait for the device to turn off. When completely turned off restart it by pressing the power button.

Hope this solves your problem.
