Neptune will not stay running during fill

When I turn it on, it starts to fill up, 10-15 seconds into the fill cycle it turns off. If I push the start button again I can get it to start and complete the fill cycle.

Won't progress beyond wash cycle -- start light is flashing. Cannot switch from "normal" to delicate or any other choice. Maytag Neptune TL FAV6800AW

So I understand the issue. Does the wash cycle start up? By that I mean if you release the washer top from the base do the tumblers turn once the water fill cycle is complete?

If you don't have the FAV6800A/FAV9800A Service Manual (you can't get it on line anymore) see this post Clutch Fix I describe how to release the washer top from the base to observe the wash basket. Don't raise during the water fill cycle wait till that completes.

Does the key pad beep as you press the other cycle select key pads?

This could be a Control Board issue...........Rich

Maytag Neptune TL starts, fills with water a few sec then clicks loudly a few times and then stops, a few sec later it repeats this, then stops for good. Tried unplugging and restarting, but same thing...

Any error codes?
Do you want to troubleshoot? If so here is the Service Manual.
FAV6800A/FAV9800A Service Manual for reference. Sears Parts Direct for reference.

I would start by removing the front cover of the machine follow all safety warnings in the Service Manual.

Follow the first few steps in my Clutch Fix post to remove the front cover.

Then let me know if during the water fill cycle the machine rotates the wash basket CCW in a slow spin during the water fill cycle before the machine stops and we will go from there. Give me all the detail you see with the front cover off I need to know if the wash basket is rotating CCW during the washer fill cycle.

You can lift the washer top up a slight amount to observe the slow CCW spin of the wash basket. I’m checking that the outer tub bearings are not seized……Rich
To pump out the excess tub water with this process;

Enter Service Mode by simultaneously pressing and holding the Enviro Plus and Spin Only keys for three seconds or the display reads “00”

Pressing the Delicates key will lock the lid. Now press the Presoak key the drain pump will turn on. Stop with off button or hit the Presoak key.

This process is documented in the Service Manual. I would go to page 16 of the SM lower right hand part of page, Board Output Test and turn on the drain pump in service mode to pump out the tub.

Washer doesn't stay running. filled with water, then shut down then filled some more and now stuck doing nothing. If push start button if runs for about 5 seconds then shuts off. 10 years old.

For being 10 years old...I'd say R.I.P Neptune. A 10-year-old dryer is going to cost you more in repairs than the cost of a new machine! And even if it is cheap enough to fix, the parts may be no longer available. I used to work at the Harrisburg PA Sears Parts/Service Center...trust me...I know.

Washer runs when timer dial turned though ON button not pushed

Problem solved by ourselves! It was NOT in the circuit board (brain) of the machine. It was NOT in the door locking assembly as others would lead us to believe. It WAS the on/off switch on the control panel--part number 22002560 - a $22.00 problem fix.

Washer powers down during wash cycles

It is most likely a very slow fill problem ,either the cold or hot water supply is restricted and the machine cannot sense the right water temp. and will shut down .

Machine cannot wash properly with a small amount of water.

Ckeck ,the screens in the water valve or at the hoses at the top where the faucets are ,clean them or replace them but never leave them out .

Neptune MAH3000AWW will start to fill when start is pressed, but stops seconds later

either a faulty pressure switch / pot or faulty controller - either way you will need to call someone in.
