Re: oven

Open the oven door take the panel off the inside bottom. turn your oven on bake if you see a red glow coming from the ignitor coil and the oven burner is not lighting you need to have the ignitor coil replace. I don't know what make your oven is so this solutoun may or may not work.

Burners will not ignite after cleaning the oven

This could be the problem if only one burner didn't lite:
Could be a liquid cleaner might have dripped down and clogged the holes the burner gas comes through. It should ignite when it dries out, if not then you may have to get the holes in the gas burner cleaned out. I use a toothpik.

If all burners fail to lite, there might be a safety cut-off of some kind in the stove.
Hope this helps.

My Viking oven will not lite, the igniter glows, but it will not lite. I have to turn on the 4 stove top burners and then it will lite. Also, when the oven reaches temperature and the therastat shuts it...

That sounds like you have too high of gas pressure which keeps the oven gas valve from opening...turning on the burners lowers the gas pressure enough to allow the gas valve to open. this is a saftey feature on many gas valves.
To stop that you will need to install a gas pressure regulator which will hold back the gas pressure so the valve can open.

Here is a tip that I wrote about regulators and them failing on the low side, but it will give you and idea what I am talking about and what you need to install in the line to your range.

I want to light the pilot light for the oven

How old is the stove-- for most ovens these days have electric Glow Ignitors-
Are you sure yours has a gas pilot?

If so-- there has to be a way of pushing in a 'pilot' button, to get the gas to start,
and there has to be a hole or area you can get to the gas burner/pilot, with a match, at the time you are pushing in on the Pilot lite

Let us know what you find--

The oven on my stove will not lite. all the buners lite. gas stove

The problem is usually the igniter not reaching the correct amp draw .When the igniter does not reach the correct amp draw it may allow the gas valve to partially open or not open at all. The igniters are inexpensive and easy to replace. This video will walk you thru the correct procedure for testing an oven igniter. It may be a different model but the testing will be the same. You can also enter your model # for diagrams and illustrations of your specific model. Not all models are available. All parts come with installation instructions.

make sure the thermocouple is positioned above pilot light this part needs to be heated up by the pilot light to keep gas going to the pilot light. if the thermocouple is positioned above pilot light and it doesn't stay light, replace thermocouple.

Oven was heating and we got HEAVY smoke....

Nothing in the elements, thermostat thermocouples are gas filled, sensors have wiring inside, nothing in the liner or insulation. You said this was a stove, and some stoves have a vent that goes up through one of the burners on the top. If you had oil splatter or drip into this it can get into your oven. We do know that some blower fans on convection ovens have a sealed oil bearing, but there would be very little oil coming out of this (drops) and you will notice your fan getting noisier or running slower in the near future. Model # fgf347awj propane oven will not pre-heat.

Sounds like gas valve is bad and the thermostat also. I would change the gas valve first. But when you said oven would not lite sure sign the gas valve is bad. New gas valve is about 50ish t-stat could be another 20. I would almost just get another gas stove at a used appliance store for 125 or something like that if unit is very old.
