On the top of the regulator is a stem/threaded rod with two nuts on it.

Loosen the bottom nut and that will allow you to turn the stem, which adjusts the pressure.

clockwise usually increases pressue, although I have encountered PRV's (Pressure Reducing Valve) that decreases pressure with a clockwise turn.

When A PRV starts malfuntioning, they often cannot be adjusted and need to be replaced or rebuilt.

Alpha cd28c boiler loosing water and pressure through pr valve when heating is on,and when then switched off needs repressuring to use heating again.no obvious leaks.new pr valve been fitted.pressure

I assume losing pressure through the PR means Pressure Relief Valve (PRV) or temperature pressure (TPR). Open in TPR may mean boiler is overheating/overpressurized. Open in PRV means the Pressure Reducer/Fill Valve in the fill line of the boiler is broken.
House Water Pressure in a home is 30/40 PSI min to 60-80+PSI max.
Boiler PRV/TPR are set at 30 PSI open (SYSTEM PRESSURE) so too high a house water pressure will open the PRV/TPR. Replace the reduction regulator on/in the fill valve assembly

Water pressure decreases as the water runs

Probably a clog in galvanized pipe.
Expansion tank is not whole-house pressure regulating tank. It is localized protection for plumbing exposed to high pressure caused by very hot water.
If you house has pressure regulating valve, then that can be a cause.
For low water pressure in household, the following link might help:

If you installed flexible lines at the supply connections, try moving supply's in a different position. You should also get a pressure gauge and check the incoming water pressure to the house. If there is a regulator, be sure and check on the regulated side.

How do you adjust the pressure on a watts regulator to increase the flow of water?

Turn it clockwise to increase pressure on a watt's pressure relief valve. You will have to gradually adjust and check pressure till you get it to desired pressure. You don't want to exceed safe pressure due to damaging water lines or fixtures.

Water temperature not hot enough

Biggest problem with this is the LP piping and gas pressure. It needs a higher gas pressure than the regulator is factory set for. Have your gas company or licensed plumber increase the pressure and check the flow (with all gas appliances on). Bring it up to 11 inches of water column with everything on. This will usually fix the problem.

Low pressure on hot water taps and showers

Many states building codes require a pressure regulator and expansion tank for hot water heater installation. Check the pressure regulator if you have one as this would only affect the hot water pressure. Adjust or replace. Rap the expansion tank like knocking hard on a door. Hollow sound is good. Dull thud means it needs to be replaced as it is filled with water.
