Check your manual. There is a way to set power on volume.you usually have to press one of the buttons while the display still says "volume"

I get a pop from the sub when the power comes on.

This is caused because the stereo you have put in, is a high power output, or higher than the factory and puts that extra power into the factory amp systems causing the amp to surge the power to the speaker resulting in the pop sound, most newer cars use a stereo system without an internal amp so as to reduce heat and a external amp in usually under a seat or dash and a high power stereo boost the output of the amp.

03 Chevy Cavalier Replace Factory Stereo

I am currently in the process of putting in a new stereo in my 03 cavalier. It's actually quite a process but can be done with some patience. I really don't have the time for a highly detailed explanation but here is the outline. First pull the airbag fuse just in case, you'll see why. The dashboard will have to come out first. It all starts with the screw located inside the drivers side fuse box area. This will allow the dashboard to be gently pryed up and popped out, there are just clips holding. Keep an eye out for areas that are not coming up easily, there will probably be screws to take care of. (There are some in the glove box.) From here it's pretty self explanatory. The trim around the stereo must come out. Then the stereo. Not too difficult. You'll need a warning chime replacement harness. I used SCHOSHE #GMLAN2SR. You'll probably need a dash install kit depending on the size stereo you go with. You'll also need to wire the stereo to a switched source of power(12V ignition, orange). Have fun...

Trouble connecting marine amp to stereo

Hello lizskates814,

You can use either the high level (speaker) or the low-level (RCA's) inputs to the amp, but not both. Choose whichever one sounds the best or is more convenient to install and leave the other disconnected.

Hope this helps.

My in-dash won't come on

yellow lead on car stereo should be going to a permanent live on car stereo wiring loom, (always 12 volts regardless of key being in or out) red lead on car stereo should be going to aux in car stereo wiring loom, (12 volts only when key in and ignition lights on) green lead on car stereo goes to earth to allow you to watch dvds whilst driving (highly illigal whilst driving!) read the manual, if this doesnt work fuse in car possibly gone?

Wireing

I believe that this model Sony amp includes High Level inputs. Those allow you to connect the normal speaker wires coming out of the factory stereo to the amp. If for some reason it doesn't include the inputs you can buy a high level to low lever converter that will give you rca from the factory unit.
