The paper feed doesn't work and it keeps asking me to load paper

the printer makes a noise and if it is a stripped gear I agree buying a new one would be best - but when i replugged it in it jammed on a thin strip of celluloid that somehow came unhooked. It is supposed to be hooked parallel to the carriage bar i think. Could this have caused my problem or isit only a result of bad gears?

HI jjones895,

What I would try first is to reset the printer back to the original factory settings. To see if it just was out of line. To do that.

Make sure the printer is on.From the control panel, use the Arrow buttons to scroll to MAINTENANCE, and then press the Select button .Use the Arrow buttons to scroll to Set Defaults, and then press the Select button .Use the Arrow buttons to scroll to Use Factory, and then press the Select button .Settings are reset to factory defaults.

If that doesn't do anything, then it could be the rubber paper feeds are worn, in that case you would need to contact a Dell service repair shop, unless it's still under warranty, then contact Dell, and they will give you instructions on what to do.

Good Luck

If the paper feed does not even make a noise, then the little motor driver has gone out.If it makes the noise(motor)then the track has striped a gear or two or three, what ever.Replacing these can be as expensive as replacing the printer.Maybe not quit that much, but close.Printers are so cheap now, they are affordable, even the 4 in ones are not out of range.I hope this is helpful, and let us know if it was helpful somewhat to you.thank you.

Paper not feeding for epson nx400

Check the following:

  • If paper doesn't feed, remove it from the sheet feeder. Reload it against the right side, behind the tab, then press in the tab on the edge guide and slide it against the paper. Make sure the paper is not above the arrow mark inside the edge guide.

  • If multiple pages feed at once, remove the paper from the sheet feeder, fan the edges to separate the sheets, then reload it.

  • If the paper doesn't eject fully, you may have set the wrong paper size. Press the c:\users\home\appdata\local\temp\msohtmlclip1\01\clip_image001.gif Stop button, then open the scanner and remove the paper. Select the correct paper size when you reprint.

  • If it's wrinkled when it ejects, the paper may be damp or too thin. Load new paper.

  • Make sure you use new, smooth, high-quality paper, that is not curled, creased, old, or too thin. Make sure to load it printable side up.

  • Do not load paper with holes punched in it for insertion in a binder.

  • Make sure you load only up to the recommended number of sheets. If you're printing on both sides of the paper, try loading fewer sheets.

Paper type

Load up to
this many sheets

Plain paper

Approximately 120

Epson Bright White Paper
Epson Presentation Paper Matte

Epson Photo Paper Glossy
Epson Premium Photo Paper Glossy
Epson Ultra Premium Photo Paper Glossy
Epson Premium Photo Paper Semi-gloss

Epson Premium Presentation Paper Matte
Epson Premium Presentation Paper Matte Double-Sided
Epson Photo Quality Self-Adhesive Sheets

If the paper jams, do the following:

1. Gently pull any jammed paper out from the output tray or sheet feeder.

2. To eject the jammed paper, try turning the Epson Stylus NX400 off and then back on.

If that doesn't work and paper is stuck inside, turn off the Epson Stylus NX400. Open the scanner, remove the jammed paper and torn pieces, close the scanner, and turn the Epson Stylus NX400 back on.

ADF wont feed the paper through the printer

You can load up to 30 sheets of plain paper in the Artisan 800 ADF. If the ADF doesn't feed the paper, check the following.

1. Make sure that you are loading plain paper only without a holes. 3-hole punched paper is not supported by this printer.

2. Load paper not exceed 30 sheets.

3. Open the ADF and check for any jammed paper or foreign object that is blocking the paper feeding path.

4. Check if the BIG GREEN ADF indicator is lit when you load paper in the ADF.

If the issue persists, your printer will require service. You can contact the Epson for warranty if your printer still under warranty. If your warranty expires, look for an a service center that can repair your printer.

Our fax machine is sending faxes fine, but will not print in coming faxes. It keeps asking for paper (which is in the fax machine), then it sounds like it's working, then stops. We turned it off to see...

The paper isn't properly loaded. remove the paper then there should be a lever near the paper loading section that you push or pull to let the paper enter the feeding area. put in paper and return the lever to the proper position. check your owners manual. to get a manual try .

I cannot get the paper to load into the printer

I had an issue with the cassette tray paper feed. I loaded paper in the rear tray, manually used the printer properties button to make it print from the rear tray and printed from there. The next day I manually did the same thing but forced it to print from the cassette (bottom) tray. It worked fine today. It no longer thinks that there is no paper and the rollers are picking up the paper edge for proper feeding of the paper. I did not go through the roller cleaning procedure but I would do that if switching back and forth manually between trays doesn't work.

Epson DX 6050 Paper feeding issues

I'm here to FIX your problem. I don't want to be helpful. I want to FIX your problem. If you will work with me, I will work with you until this is FIXED.

The paper not loading from one side is a problem with the pickup and feed roller on one side. This happens when rollers dry out and actually shrink as a result.

To resolve this, all we need to do is 'rehydrate' the rollers. There are solutions you can buy to do this and maybe it will come to that with yours. But, I've used this method below for years of working on Ink Jets since they first came out in 92.

Remove all paper.
Get a clean sponge and dampen it fairly well.
Now, you will want to repeatedly press the Paper Feed button while holding the damp sponge firmly against the pickup and feed rollers you can see while looking down your paper tray of your printer. You should be able to see these rollers quite easily.

The trick is to keep damping the sponge and pressing it against the rollers while pressing Paper Feed a lot of times. How many times? Well, this varies. But you will want to do this at least a dozen times on each side of the pickup rollers to start with.

Once, you are done with this initial attempt, you will want to give the rollers a chance for their surface to dry to the touch. Then, insert a full load of paper and press Paper Feed and see if your printer loads the paper correctly. If it attempts to load and does so better than before but does not quite finish, pull the paper out, its okay to do this, and rehydrate the rollers some more until the paper feed works as expected.

Let me know how this works out for you. I can direct you to a vendor on the internet to buy some roller rejuvenator later if its actually needed. I have found that you can do this trick with the damp sponge on an as needed basis from time to time and achieve the same result.

If, however this does not make any difference in your printers ability to pick up and feed paper then you have a mechanical problem and if under warranty you'll want Epson to fix it. If not under warranty you could have Epson fix it but you'd probably be better off getting a replacement. You will have to decided on that once Epson quotes a price to repair and replace the damaged parts.

Please use the comment text area below to communicate with me and ask any questions to explain something or ask a further question. I will receive an email alert and will get back with you as soon as I am able. This will depend on our time zone differences.

Paper feed not working

remove the paper from the machine and look where it feeds in. There should be some rubber rollers, try cleaning them with a rag and some rubbing alcohol. If this doesn't work let me know. Also fan the paper before loading it. John
