Dell Inspiron 530 S goes into power save mode and either fails to respond to pressing a key or powers off

test the PSU if the power supply units fan is not working the psu is faulty
check leads from motherboard to hard drive make sure connections are secure and dust free including electrical extensions
if its a 40pin ide this will be the first to fail

even something as small as a faulty fan lead can cause this ptoblem
computers need power and data to travel through every working device and to continue its cycle and have a finishing point

make sure your ram and cmos battery are dust free and securely seated
on some motherboards cmos batteries are soldered in
hope this helps

How do i unlock my dell keyboard?

Dell Inspiron 530s keyboard unlock
Is the keyboard usb or ps2? If its usb then try another port. If its ps2(Green) then power down the pc by holding in the power button for 8 to 10 seconds. Pull the plug and make sure no pins are bent. Plug it back in and boot back up. This should fix the problem if its ps2. Regards

I have a Dell 530S that won't start when i press the power button

Is there any lights showing on it at all? Put your ear to the back of the computer to listen if you hear the power supply fan running. you should feel air coming out the back where the fans are spinning.

There are 3 things that could be bad. 1. Power supply 2. Motherboard 3. Videocard is bad. If the videocard is build onto the motherboard then you know it's just the motherboard that is bad.

First thing to start with is replacing the powersupply make sure you take your old one to the store so you can the correct type.

Good Luck

Inspiron 530S Power Save Mode Loop

First you need to make sure that there are no other removable devices plug on the system, like usb, external hard drives, then if that will work try to go to the bios, press f2 when you see the dell logo, and go to the system setup, go to the boot device configuration and make sure that removable device is not the first boot device, if it is the first one choose hard disk and then second boot device ad cd rom/dvd rom and then disable the 3rd boot and the fourth boot device. Make sure to save the changes. And restart the system again. Once the computer is back and running try to go to support.dell.com and check the bios, download if there is a bios update for the system.
