I've had two different MPX220 and both of them stopped charging after a year or so. Seems like there's a problem with the soldering on a certain part of the phone that breaks easily. This seems to be fixable but I haven't really gotten in to it.
Fast solution: For some reason you can still charge it with your USB cable. So that's what I do... when at home, I use the USB cable to charge it on the PC. When I'm on the run, I use the USB cable with my Apple USB charger (the one for iPods/iPhones). Although I cannot assure that you will not harm your phone when using the Apple thingy, as the output current on it seems to be different than the charger... but than again, I've been doing this for the past year and haven't had a problem since.

I couldnt find an economical solution to that problem. The way I solved it is by buying a desktop charger. Chek out http://cgi.ebay.com/Motorola-MPX220-MPX-220-Battery-Desktop-Charger_W0QQitemZ300187068458QQihZ020QQcategoryZ83521QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
They have worldwide shipping.
