Re: motorola v500

This was a common defect in this model phone it is probably that the earpiece speaker is going bad.

I can not connect to gprs

first thing , find the correct APN settings from your network provider .
Same here. Now found:

"Select a Modem" should be set for "Cellular Line (GPRS)" or "Cellular Line GPRS/3G"

Now click "Next" to start inputting the operator specific settings.

O2 (note different settings for Contract and PAYG)
Access Point Name (Contract):
Access Point Name (PAYG):
Username (Contract)
Username (PAYG)

Tap "Advanced" and make sure both tabs have selected "Use Server Assigned IP Address"

Tap "Finish" then Tap "Proxy Settings".

Select "This network connects to the Internet" and " This network connects to a proxy server..."
below is the example

Tap "Advanced" then WAP. Server address is: Port 9201. Tap OK

Tap Socks: Server is Port 1080. Type: Socks 4. Tap OK 4 times to finish.

When switch on with sim card the phone sayscontact service provde

Hi there,

This problem sounds like it is to do with your SIM (Service Identifier Module) card, within your mobile phone handset, either this is because you no longer have this card activated, or you have encountered a problem with your contract. In the event that this is a PAYG (prepaid SIM) then just replace the small SIM card and hopefully you are able to use your phone. If on the otherhand you are using a contract SIM card, then you will need to talk to your service provider directly and sort the problem out. However, you could always change your SIM card anyway, and be donee with the matter.

One word of warning on this, you will probably have to tell everyone you know that you have had to change your mobile phone number, as the unique mobile number is attached to the SIM card as apposed to the phone handset. You could always find a cellphone provider that will allow you to keep your existing number, but, as your SIM card sounds like it is no longer active, the chances of you retaining your existing number are slim to minimal at best.

Now I am also an engineeer that keeps all possibilites of error open for investigation, so in this event, it is best to go to and check out the support pages for your phone and see what is said about this; just in case it is a problem with your handset. Better still, any high-street or downtown mobile phone shop will be able to query the matter for you and advise you in person of your next best approach.

I hope this is the fixya for you, and if there is anything that you have to ask or comment on, feel free to do so and I will respond as soon as humanly possible.

Many thanks for using the Fixya service,

Yours sincerely

Check that the correct settings are saved on phone, go to messages, scroll down, message settings and look for the vodaphone prepay or payg. make sure its selected and save. Then go to internet settings and check again that payg is selected. Turn phone off and on and see if that helps, if not pop in 2 a vodaphone shop and they will do it for yous! Hope this helped.

Motorola v557

Hello. Your mic actually went bad from either liquid damage or a small bump. You need to have the mic either replaced at a motorola service center. Or you can do it yourself. It is quite easy. Just buy the mic from ebay for any old v series motorola phone v300 v400 v500, they are all the same. and just install it yourself. If you dont have a local service center in your area, cant find the part or cant do it yourself, look in my profile and i am sure we can help you out. If you found this helpful, give me a rating!

Can not hear the other person when they call me.

I have the solution!!! I personally know better than to buy a Motorola!! I had a RAZR V3 that is NOTHING compared to my Samsung T629!!! The solution is:NEVER BUY MOTOROLA!!!! I would definately recommend LG and Samsung! Koreans know how to please consumers!!!! Though I recently found out that Nokia is from New Zealand from watching Transformers.LOL I believe that MOTO focuses on the LOOK. I mean you have to admit that they do have pretty nice phones!!! SO PLEASE NEVER BUY MOTOROLA AGAIN!!!!
