Vizio Sound Problems when using HDMI

I just bought a Vizio 47'' LCD HDTV (Model SV470M). This TV is connected to my cbale Box (Motorola DCX3400) using HDMI cables.

Occassionally, when I change channels on my cable box, the sound on my Vizio tv completely drops out. No problems occur when I use Component cables, only with HDMI cables.

Any clues on why the sound on my Vizio Tv occassionally drops out?

SOURCE: Screen Resolution Problems with Samsung 50" DLP

Hi there,

You may have already done this, but check to see if you can change the screen size in the set-top-box settings and set this to widescreen 16:9 to match the tv. You may also have 14:9 as an option too. Also, check your video output settings, this can be changed between RGB, Composite, PAL or NTSC.

Let me know if that does or doesn't solve the problem

If you are expert and have experience then follow the instruction given below:

Check first Filament is lighten-up ? If yes then check ABL Voltages, if filament voltages not present check horizontal out put transistor. and check also safty resistances in surrounding area of H OUT Transistor.

And if you are not a tech person then i advise you to please contact any expert nearby, this problem bit technical.

I have vizio sv470m and all of the 4 hdmi plugs stopped working one at a time.

Power doesn't have to be knocked out for a cable box to destroy the HDMI ports on a TV. Thunder miles away will put voltage spikes on the cable system which in turn trashes the main board in the TV. You can get parts for your TV here: TV Parts Universal TV Stands DLP Chips ShopJimmy

Vizio sv470m

Try unplugging all units involved for a while--make the HDMI connection when they are disconnected from power--HDMI does not like being hooked up to units that are powered and or on.

47" vizio has sound no

Have you selected the proper input for how you have it configured? If using an HD connection, select the HDMI 1 input. If you are using the coaxial cable connection, then select TV input. If you are using the three RCA inputs (yellow, red, white) then select AV input.

I have the same set, same problem with one of my MOTOROLA boxes, but not with another. I have a SONY TV that works fine with this new MOTO box, but the new VIZIO does not. The audio is coming through the HDMI cable just fine, and the fact that it works when you cycle power on your TV means it's the SYNC between the TV and the BOX. I have the identical problem and am taking back the MOTO box for another one. I spoke to VIZIO for about 45 minutes trying different things. They think it's the MOTOROLA box, COX (my cable company) thinks it's this particular box, who knows.

Vizio SV470m with a pixelated screen after being on for 5 minutes

verify if it only happens on the antenna/cable input and if it works fine with dvd or other input, then it is a signal issue with the cable or antenna u r using and repair that problem and not the tv
