This means that the Movement of the Print Head Holder is blocked. To remedy this carefully check the printer and clear the paper jam or foreign object that is preventing the Print Head Holder from moving. With the power off the Head Holder should be able to be moved gently by hand. Cancel printing from your computer, then turn off the machine, and turn it back on again

Giving me service error 5100

5100 is a carriage travel error, either something is stopping the carriage or there is ink or grease on the encoder strip.

Service error 5100

5100 means the carriage is not moving properly, or there is grease or ink on the encoder strip The encoder strip is the clear strip with black lines behind the carriage that runs all the way across the printer. You can clean the strip with a Q-tip just damp with water.

Canon i90

If error light blinks 4 times
will be a hardware error.
Canon mention to be a cart. out of position.... but there are wrong.
On the service station(right side) you will se a metal plate
wich is holding service station. I did find it out of position
and just push it till it cliks on the tabs.
After that repower yor unit and shuld be fine.
just to mention that you don't need to take it apart...you can accese it thru front opening lid.
Good luck
