Question about Kitchen Ranges

1 Answer

My Amana convection oven reads F9 code every time I try to bake with it. I have turned the breaker off anf left it overnight off, etc. - code still comes up every time I press "bake". This first happened after I hired a cleaning lady to help with my cleaning backlog, who scoured the oven with oven cleaner instead of using the self-cleaning feature. The self-cleaning feature on my oven no longer works because it was locking itself up without cause and bleeping F7 spontaneously so my brother disengaged it about a year ago. He figured I had steamed up the panel and caused a short or something. He resolved it. The oven worked fine for another 10 months or so until now. What's wrong and can it be fixed relatively cheaply? I bought the range used, about three years ago - so I don't have the manual. Would also like to know if a manual is available somewhere with the codes. Thanks in advance!

My oven will not stay on .F9 code appear whats the problem?

Hi healinghe445,
It has something to do with a motorized door if you are getting this error code F9. The most common thing that needs to be checked is the latch. If you find it faulty you will need to replace it with a new one. You may contact Sears for the replacement part at 1-800-252-1698; M-F 6:30 AM-10:30 PM - Sat 7:00 AM-9:30 PM - Sun 7:30 AM-9:30 PM - All times Central.
Hope this helps.
Thank you for using FixYa.

F9 error code while using the convection baking function

This is a lock switch error code. Check wiring to door lock switch (the wire harness may be connected wrong). Check for stuck lock switch. If the switch cannot be re adjusted, it must be replaced.

Oven door is open, but F9 now signals, trying to turn on

HI. this F-9 code is signaling a major door mechanism malfunction. the best action is to replace the entire door latch assembly. this will heel the F-9 alert and, fix the problem you are experiencing at this time.

Please rate and, have a great evening:)

Amana EvenAir Convection Plus Self Cleaning Oven will not unlock.

My oven was locked and would not open. No lock light was on but the oven was clearly locked. F9 error when I hit certain buttons.

Try this. I unplugged the oven for about 5 minutes. Plugged back in. A LOCK light came on. Held down "Oven Cancel" for a few seconds. Door opened and lock light went off. No more F9 error when I hit those buttons.

Oven door won't unlock

I asked for help with an Amana F9 code problem earlier today .I had set self clean oven on and then after 2 hours cancelled it. After 1/2 hr it began to beep and displaideda F9 code and I couldn't get it to unlock. Tried manual tip to turn off circuit breaker for 3 minuetes then turn back on. Did this 3 times to no avail.Tried 20 minutes also zip.Contacted Amana and all they would tell was to call a service rep. I gave her apiece of my mind that I wouln't do that because I wasn't going be paying for such an issue.
Your site was my salvation.( STP685) Suggested I push bake and once I did the oven started to heat and unlocked itself.! Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Amana Convection oven not controlling temp

I have just checked the baking guide in the manual and have found that it may not be us after all. (Maybe this is why they telll us to read the whole manual. Well, I never have) According to the cooking time for Baking, the range is very extensive. For example, an angel cake at 350 could take from 28-50 minutes, buscuits at 375-400 could take 8-16 minutes, layer cakes at 350-375 could take 25-40 minutes, pound cakes at 325-350 could take 45-70 minutes and fresh pies at 400-450 could take 35-60 minutes. Basically, the baking directions on the box means absolutely nothing to use Amana oven owners. We have no choice but to cook our food or baked goods until they are cooked, whenever that may be. :) Linda

F9 code

I hit the same F9 problem when trying to self-clean, except that the door was locked OPEN.

After much trial and error, I found the following fix: 1. Switch circuit breaker off. 2. Switch circuit breaker on. 3. Press Bake button. 4 Press the small/inside button which indicates that the oven door is closed.

The lock mechanism opened and the oven now works fine.
