If you are having that annoying thing where the file opens in the browser window... either right click the link and save as or
Download the free programme DAP (Download Accelerator Pro) -- it will list the downloadable links on the page and hey presto - you have the file!

Utorrent not seeding or leching

Utorrent works on the premise that there are many people wanting the file that is being downloaded and many people have the file or parts of it available to be downloaded.
When one person is holding the whole file then they can seed this file so others can download it. As long as they have the file complete and available others can download it normally in blocks such as 4 kb blocks. As they download the blocks then they are available to others to download from them so if you have downloaded 50% of a file then that 50% of the file is available to any others that want to download it.
To this end someone can download part of the file from you and part of the file from another person thus speeding up the download process.
when two people are downloading different parts from the seeder they can also download the parts the other person has downloaded. So each person is helping to speed up the process of getting the file.

Once each person has a complete file then they can seed that file in its' complete form allowing many people to download the file quickly.

Where the torrent system falls over is when the initial person with the complete file stops seeding the file before each person downloading the file has the complete file. If there is any part of the file not contained on at least one downloaders computer then the file will continue to wait till that piece is available before completing the download thus leaving all downloaders without a complete file.

If a file has become dormant where no people are carrying any part of the file then the torrent program sits waiting for any part to become available to start downloading.

How to download in my pc?

1.

When you download a file-such as a program, update, game, video, or document-you transfer it from the Internet to your computer.

2.

When you download files using Download Manager, they're automatically saved in the Downloads folder. This folder is usually located on the drive where Windows is installed (for example, C:\users\your name\downloads). For information about managing your downloads and changing where they are saved, see Using Download Manager in Internet Explorer

If you're saving a file, you can choose to save it to a particular folder. If you don't select a folder yourself, some files are automatically saved to a folder associated with the file type. For example, if you right-click a picture on a web page, and then choose Save Picture As, it will be saved to the Pictures folder.

3.
Open Download Manager

  1. ?id=microsoft.windows.resources.shellexecutetopiciconClick to open Internet Explorer.

  2. Click the Tools button getcontent.aspx?assetid=448ef968-d58a-43a2-b0cc-f396f4024f2c&documentset=en-us&prod=win700&market=us , and then click View downloads.

***************************************************************************

Right-click a file, and then click this

To do this

Delete File

Delete the file from the computer.

Copy download link

Copy the link you used to download the file. You can paste the link, and then save it or send it to someone else.

Go to download webpage

Open the webpage where you downloaded the file.

Open containing folder

Open the file's location on the computer.

Report that this file is unsafe

Open a SmartScreen webpage where you can report malware (malicious software).

Rerun security checks on this file

Run all security checks, including SmartScreen filter, on the file.
This information is in the "help files" in your computer.

My Rogers Rocket stick will not complete the download to my desktop pc I have XP

You might want to check and see how much hard drive space you have, since these types of downloads use a temp file then they transfer that temp file into your download directory. For instance you download a 60mg file, that 60 mg file file actually needs about 200mg of space to fully download. 60mg in the temp file to hold the file while it is downloading, another 60mg to write the file into your download directory and 80mg to act as a virtual memory on your hard drive. If any one of those things aren't right, your download gets tossed. Also one more thing, if your rogers stick loses connection for more then about 30 seconds on a download, it sorta forgets what it was doing and wanders off to do something else.

Problem downloading files up to 100 mb

Well, here's a bit complicated, yet effective method that just might reduce your downloading headaches... Let's say you're connect to the Internet using a 28.8K modem and that your Internet service provider lets you telnet to their server. Of course, your provider's server can download files much faster, so the idea here is to download the file to their server at high speed, split it, and retrieve parts at the highest speed you can to your provider's server. Generally speaking, this method not only is a faster way to download files, but it is also a more reliable method since you'll be downloading many smaller files rather than one large file.
First, find out the FTP address of the large (larger than 16M for example) file that you want to download. For example:
ftp://ftp.x.com/bigfile.zip
Telnet to your Internet service provider's server.
telnet x.com
From within the telnet session, download your file to your provider's server. Following is a "screen shout" of a sample file transfer on an UNIX compatible server. Blue/bold text represents your input.
ftp
ftp> open ftp.x.com
Connected to ftp.x.com.
220 ftp x.cpm FTP Service (Version 2.0).
User (ftp.x.com:(none)): anonymous
331 Anonymous access allowed, send identity as
Password: my_address@x.com
ftp> binary
200 Type set to I.
ftp> get bigfile.zip
200 PORT command successful.
150 Opening BINARY mode data connection for bigfile.zip
226 Transfer complete.
ftp> quit
221 Thank you for using x.com! Once the file is download to the server, the next step is to divide the file into smaller pieces so that you will not waste too much time downloading should your Internet dial-up connection go down.
split -b 2000b bigfile.zip
You're almost there! Now simply log off from your telnet session and start downloading (from your provider's server to your computer) smaller files (not the bigfile.zip) which the above split command (on most UNIX compatible machines) created.
Once you have all the files, simply merge them and you got a good copy of the original bigfile.zip. If you're using DOS or Windows, you can merge files using the following command (assuming that bigfile.zip (16000 byte file) was divided into 8 2000 byte files named xaa to xah):
copy /b xaa xab xac xad xae xaf xag xah bigfile.zip
Don't forget to log back into your Internet service provider's computers and delete temporary files (bigfile.zip and xaa..xah) once you've made sure that your downloaded copy is in good condition. Doesn't sound like the above steps could make your downloads faster or more reliable? Well, in most cases it does; specially if the file you're downloading is rather large. The reason why this method could possibly be faster is because you can download files from your provider's computer to your computer faster than from most remote sites. Of course, the reason for reliability is that downloading many smaller files makes it possible to resume a download without wasting as much time as resuming a larger file download would.
************ALTERNATIVELY***********
You can use FRESH DOWNLOAD.Fresh Download is an easy-to-use and very fast download manager software that turbo charges downloading files from the Internet, such as your favorite freeware/shareware, mp3 files, movie files, picture collections, etc. Unlike any other similar utilities, this software is 100% free, no charges, no banners in the software (whichsteal your bandwidth), no spyware.
