Question about HP Pavilion dv4000 Notebook

Where do I start? HP dv4000 is the worst laptop

Where do I start? HP dv4000 is the worst laptop ever. Right side speaker blew out after a few months. Hard drive died and had to be replaced in less than a year. DVD player has never worked properly. Can't burn CD's either because the CD/DVD drive just disconnects from the laptop if it runs for more than 5 minutes (also hard to install new software unless it's quick!). Cheap power cord died and had to buy a generic/universal replacment. Wireless card simply stopped picking up any wireless signals so I'm always hard-wired to the internet. The fan doesn't seem very good because the laptop get REALLY hot to the touch. It takes FOREVER to boot up and shut down. And it's just slower than molasses. The top issues I'd like to resolve? Wireless card/connectivity. Any suggestions or drivers that I can reinstall that will bring it back online? Any other suggestions for fixing the long list of problems above are appreciated too. Thanks.

I feel your pain....actuall am tired of rebuilding them, I feel you are lucky in one sense....your still manages to start. Try this for your wireless problems. May be short term but you never know.

Windows WiFi Fix,
Windows Zero Wireless Configuration is one of the best programs to run a WiFi in Windows XP or Vista. Most of the other software packages that come with the different adapters have been poor at best in keeping a connection through Windows. Here is the best guide to get you back up and connected.
Windows XP:
Click Start
Right click on My Computer
When a window pops up click on properties
Click on the Hardware tab
Click Device Manager
Click the [+] next to Network Adapters
Find your wireless card and right click on it.
Click Disable
Windows may warn you that disabling the device may make it stop functioning.
Continue disabling the device.
Wait 30 seconds or so.
Right click on your wireless again and click Enable.
Exit the device manager.
Reconnect to your router.
You should now be able to connect to the internet.

Windows Vista:

Click Start Logo
Right Click Computer
Click Device Manager
Windows will ask you about opening Device Manager Click Continue
Click the [+] next to Network Adapters
Find your wireless card and right click on it.
Click Disable
Windows may warn you that disabling the device may make it stop functioning.
Continue disabling the device.
Wait 30 seconds or so.
Right click on your wireless again and click Enable.
Exit the device manager.
Reconnect to your router.
You should now be able to connect to the internet.

Generally laptop speakers aren't that loud, plug in an external speaker into the headphone jack for higher volume.

Bottom right of the screen should have a speaker icon to change the volume.

HP Pavillion G7 speakers blown?

If the computer was purchased new, you do not want to tear into it. Doing so would void your warrenty. I would recomend you call HP support, since the computer would have a 1 year warrenty. Let them trouble shoot it, they will most likely send you a box to return the computer for repair.

At first, the green light was flickering into the bottom of my laptop. someone told me that its normal, so i decided to ignore it. then one night, as i used my laptop, i detected that it is starting to...

If you're talking about your screen, it's probably the inverter going bad.
You can go to insidemylaptop.com and click on Laptops, or HP, and then inverter. These will be on the right hand side of the screen and you will see what I'm talking about. You can probably get one from ebay for just a few dollars (just search Pavilion inverter, or dv4000 inverter). They aren't hard to replace and tey give very detailed instructions. Or you might be able to buy a used or new screen for your laptop and replace it for a bit more. If you take it to a repair shop they'll probably charge you a couple hundred dollars to do it.
Hope this helps

HP dv4000 Static discharge shuts down my laptop

Honestly, it sounds as if the laptop has some sort of power issues as it shouldn't be creating static. If you are going to take it apart yourself, look for damage to all connectors, especially around the power connection as damage here could lead to greater problems down the road. Otherwise, I would recommend taking it to an Authorized HP Repair center.
