Problem with replacing the motherboard and keeping my old hard drive

I just replaced my motherboard with brand new one and everything seems like it is working fine but it just won't read my window XP installation CD.

I've set CD-ROM drive as 1st boot device in BIOS.
And I do not have the back-up disk.

Replace hard drive motherboard

Before you start replacing drive you need to ask yourself if you are trying to replace a bad hard drive and just want to start with a clean install of the O.S. OR are you replacing your hard drive with a bigger one and wish to keep your installed programs, data and documents. If you want to keep your data and documents you need to know how to save the Files and folders on your computer to a CD, DVD or a USB hard drive. Just replacing the hardware involves unplugging all cables from computer after shutting it down. Then opening the case and unplugging the cables from the hard drive and then remove the screw(s) retaining the hard drive. Remove the old hard drive from the case and replace it with the new one, replace screws and plug cables back up watching that that the connectors are correctly aligned with the key(s) on the hard drive's sockets. Replacing the Hard drive also involves installing the O.S. and all your programs and applications on the new hard drive. You can find a lot of information in the internet about this.

Need nec versa e 6000 motherboard faulty . where i can buy the motherboard?

it is not worth it to purchase a new motherboard for around 200$ when you can buy a brand new computer for just a little bit more.

You can have your files moved from the old hard drive to the new laptop by a professional or you can do it yourself if you aren't a complete dummy with computers.

To do it yourself you would need to first remove the old hard drive from the old computer ( NEC ) and then buy a external hard drive case for it that fits to it - there are 2 sizes, 2.5" and 3.5", probably 2.5" hard drive and then there are 2 types of connectors, IDE and SATA. SATA has a flat connector, and IDE has around 40 metal pins sticking out of it.

buy the appropriate USB caseing for it and then connect it to your new computer, you can transfer your files from it to the computer, after you have done so, you can keep the old hard drive as a external hard drive, for backups for example.

Test your PSU or replace it if your power supply units fan is not working your PSU is faulty

One bad lead can cause a computer to fail to detect a hard drive continue on a cycle or to shutdown

Test all leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions,IDE,SATA and

the leads from your motherboard to your hard drive make sure they have a secure connection and are not faulty or just replace them there probably old and faulty
problems
make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty or just replace them they are probably old and faulty ?

then click start run type cmd then type chkdsk/r/f which will scan for and attempt to fix any bad sectors automatically fix any corrupt files on your hard drive then defragment your hard drive you have to keep a computer very clean & free of dust and give it regular maintanance

Acer vt7500 with a s88m motherboard and xp pro The hard drive(40gb) is failing and I would like to know what I could replace it with (ie. largest size) and install xp. I do not need to save the old...

Your 40GB drive is an IDE ("Integrated Drive Electronics") drive.
The largest IDE drive ever manufactured is 500GB.
However, some motherboards do not support drives larger than 320GB.

Some disk-drives (Seagate/Maxtor) come with a CD-ROM of "tools" that enable you to copy "everything" from your "old" drive to your "new" drive.

After replacing a new hard drive my computer now failed to boot, it keep restarting. I then replaced it the old hard drive again and the same problem as above. Please help.

Hi
it seems that you know what you are doing -
it seems that the problem is with in the connections
please recheck the connections

the best way is
1) unplug the HDD (hard disk) Power and Data cable
and turn on the PC -- check whether its working (or is it rebooting/restarting)
if its restarting then there is something wrong somewhere else

here you said you just replaced the Hard drive --
there are 2 IDE Slots - check connecting the Hard drive to IDE 2
and use the same Data cable for CD/DVD and HDD --

2) check the RAM Connection unplug and replug (it might be loose)
but be careful Power supply shout be OFF while playing with Connections

3) Check the Connection to the board -

don't worry it will work

System crashes completely. just freezes and never recovers. for some odd reason, when i try to run the windows repair, it crashes as well giving me the blue screen of death. i have three other hard drives:...

You are probably correct in thinking it a motherboard problem, its sounds like the disk controller on the motherboard id faulty.
There are a huge range of motherboards to choose from.
The mounting holes on the motherboard will match the desktop mounting plate, these are standard configurations.
Stick with the well known brands and with the functions that suit your requirements.
My choice of brands are Gigabyte, Intel, MSI.
If you are into gaming and video editing etc. go for a motherboard without a built-in graphics card and purchase a separate high end graphics card.

SATA drives are the latest hard drives available nowadays. You could try going online and checking other sites that could still have an IDE hard available for sale.
