Do you have the software disc to the mp3 player? If you do have the software disc install it on your computer and try to detect it through the program the installs from the disc.If you do not have the software disc try going into yahoo or google and type the brand and model number of the mp3 device with the word software (example: samsung YP-K3 software)

Please check the player with another PC. If the player is detected then it is possible that the OS in the PC is corrupt or has lost some files. You might need to reinstall the OS and drivers.
If however there is no detection in any PC there are errors in the player and could be due to corrupt files. You might need to reset/format after the player is detected.

Remove Jet Flash Write Protection
Insert the mini CD that came with the USB Flash disk. Start JF
Utility.exe in the JF Utility directory. If it complains that the disk
is write protected, choose "Continue" Choose "Partition" Answer "Yes"
to losing all your data (Since this becomes a problem usually after
formating the disk in WinXP or Win9x, you will most probably not have
any data on there in any case) Choose "Public Area Only (Single
Partition)", Then "OK", Then "OK" again. Unplug the device, reinsert
device, and voila!- no more dark secret areas or write protection on
I had something similar with my Cube. WinXP pro would detect it a an unknown USB device. Sometimes when I would manipulate the USB cable, it would detect correctly.
To make a long story short, it turned out the be the USB cable. When I tried a different one, everything worked correctly. Hope this helps.
