Question about Nikon COOLPIX L3 Digital Camera

1 Answer

Dropped Nikon Coolpix L3

Dropped camera from height of 4' onto hardwood floor. Camera was in "off" position but turned on upon impact and lens extended. When tried to turn camera off immediately lens would not retract and viewing screen read "lens error". Now lens is in permanently extended position; can hear "whirring" noise when I try to turn off camera, but nothing changes. No image appears in viewing screen, but screen lights up.
Anything can be done by me or do I have to take it to camera repair shop?
Thanks.
Matt

Before buying a new camera, recommend trying Fix #7 one more time using a little more force than you would have liked. You have little to lose at this point, the camera's broken. Look hard for any indication that one side of the lens is out of alignment (a larger gap on one side, a tilt of the lens, etc...).. If you see this indication, grasp the lens and try to straighten it by pushing or pulling to straighten. Use a wiggling motion, and listen for any click. Stop immediately if you hear this click and try the camera.

    Good Luck!

Nikon cool pix was dropped with lens out, now jammed and there is a lens error...ANY WAY to fix??? PLEASE HELP

This one is almost assuredly headed for the repair shop, but you might try pulling on the lens a little bit. What has happened is that a gear tooth was skipped because of the impact on the lens, and it is probably cocked to one side. Look at the lens orientation carefully. You might be able to **** it back. Good luck.

My camera {nikon coolpix l3}

Try jiggling the lens. Use compressed air to blow out any grit around the lens barrel. If that doesn't do it, you'll need to get the camera serviced.

'Lens Error'

From the manual: "Turn camera off and then on again. If error persists, contact retailer or Nikon representative."

Dropped camera and now lens will not move

This worked for my camera, Nikon Coolpix L10!! I'm so happy I didn't go out and buy another camera!!!
Remove the batteries, then remove the memory card. Then install the new batteries, when you turn it on it should come back to life. Error E30 means you don't have a memory card installed, so turn it off, slip in the memory card and turn it on one last time.

How can i fix a stuck lens on a Nikon COOLPIX L11?

It worked. I just gently nudgged the extended(stuck) lens to one side by hand. (the side which had the gap.) There was a click sound and the lense housing fell back in place. Sweitched off and switched on again and the lense started working fine. thanks.

Dropped my camera on a hard surface and the lens is stuck open.

Buy a new one, that's what I did after I dropped my brand new camera.

Lens is stuck open and making a clicking noise!

It costs more to fix than replace. It's quite asinine. And I wouldn't recommend Nikon again.
