SOURCE: problem with print outs from printer

Hey eastman You can do a manual cleaning using some kitchen paper and a little solvent and a small plastic bag. The first thing we need to do is get the head away from its parking position. Switch on the machine and when the head has moved away from its park position, remove the power lead. With the top of the machine open, you should be able to move the print head carriage by hand. Look to the right where the head carriage is normally parked and you should see the pump cap area. It will be a black looking spongy pad covered in ink. Now take a piece of kitchen paper and fold it over a couple times to make a pad approx 3"x1". Now lay this pad over the top of the pump cap and fold the left edge down toward the base of the machine as in image one (the tissue is the yellow bit in the image) Now take a syringe or similar and put some solvent into it. The solvent I use is JR Ink Jet Cartridge flush as seen on ebay and the like. If you have any ammoniated window cleaner like Windex you can use this. Put the solvent onto the tissue making it quite damp, but not totally soaked. Manually move the print head GENTLY back to its park position. The pump cap will try to raise up to meet the bottom of the print head as you move it back. Be careful no to force it or you may break something. What we are trying to do is bring the solvent dampened pad into contact with the print head. Once located, leave the pad for 5 or 10 minutes whilst the solvent does its trick. Now move the head away from park - again being gentle. You should now see the pad is a horrible black lump of mush. Pick it out and put it in the plastic bag ? where a glove or use tweezers or pliers. Repeat the process again but this time let it to soak for just about 1 minute. You should now see the individual ink colours soaking into the pad. If the pad is still black, repeat the process a couple more times. Once you have some evidence of the individual colours you can run a head clean via the driver or printer control panel. Then print a nozzle check sheet and if all has gone according to plan you should have a full complement of lines. This method is applicable ONLY for loss of a few lines on the nozzle check sheet. If you have loss of all the lines in a single or multiple colours, you need to investigate further. It is possible that the pump has failed, the pipes are clogged or something else is causing the problem.

Unfortunately, the printhead can only be removed by disassembling the printer and paying for the parts if defective. It is just not worth it. If you have already tried new inks (just replace one - not all) and this number of cleaning cycles - there is nothing else. At this point replacing may be the best solution if you are out of the one-year warranty period.

SOURCE: Not printing magenta ink and tried cleaning heads already

Hi, one or two head cleans won't clear a clogged nozzle. Try doing 4 or 5 head cleans, wait about 10 hours for the ink to soften and do another 3 or 4 cleans with a nozzle check after each. You should see a gradual improvement in the nozzle checks. If there is no improvement then you need a head cleaning solution such as this one:
http://www.powerklin.co.uk/?gclid=CNGDypir-JgCFQ4yQgodZlC4lw

Others are available just try googling "inkjet head cleaning".
Note that head cleaning uses between 5 and ten percent of your ink cart's, if any are low on ink have some new ones ready. Hope this helps.
Please take a moment to rate this solution, thanks.

Clean printer heads

Several ink based printers have a built in cleaning process. The printer will move the print head carriage assembly to a cleaning station that uses some ink to lubricate/wet the print head to loosen old ink. It lets it soak for a couple seconds and wipes it off. After the cleaning process some printer will do a test page or even calibrate colors. If a print head is too clogged up or the inkjet too clogged the cleaning process will not work then you will need to replace the print heads. May times you can not get replacement print heads for brands beyond Brothers or HP plotters so you may need to obtain a new printer.

Goodmorning, my hp t610 have message print head replacement not complete. I tried several times but the message is always the same. the print head are new!!! I look forward to a response. best...

Hello.
This error occurs when a print head can not be detected. Sometimes the very fine contacts that detect the printhead can become dirty with ink. Power the printer down, remove the heads and try cleaning the circuit contacts on both the printer and the print heads with alcohol wipes. Switch the printer on and replace the heads.
I hope this helps Regards GM

This issues looking printer head problem. check the following Steps for cleaning printer head :

Click on the Start button if you have Windows XP. If you have Windows Vista, click the Windows icon that resides in the lower left corner of your computer screen.

Click on "Control Panel," then "Printers and Other Hardware." Finally click on "View Installed Printers or Fax Printers."

Right-click on the name of your printer and choose "Printing Preferences." This should open a new window; next look for a tab or button marked Maintenance, or something similar.

Find the button that says "Print heads" or "Clean the Print heads" and click on it. You may be asked to choose which print heads; choose them all if you are. Make sure there is paper and ink in your printer, and that it is turned on ahead of time.

Take out the page your printer has printed and see if there are any grids or boxes missing. If there aren't, then you can just exit the program--your print heads are not clogged. If there are grids missing, then click on the "Cleaning" or similarly worded button.

Once the cleaning process has completed, print another page to be sure that your print heads are no longer clogged. If they are still clogged, repeat Steps 1-5 until your printer is printing clearly.

Replaced with New HP ink cartridge and it will not print out black

Hi There

Summary

Usage of compatible ink and leave the printer idle too long may cause printhead clogging
What should you do if you get this problem. Relax; you may recover the printhead by unclogging it. Follow these steps to unclog the printhead

1. Right click in the printer driver name
2. Select Properties menu
3. Click Maintenance tab
4. Click on cleaning sign for regular cleaning. Perform this up to 3 times.
5. If this does not work, perform Deep Cleaning

And if that not work

Some times it needs a good clean up but this is up to you if you want to do this,
But after you done this prime the printer so it gets the inks back in the heads, it may take a little time for the inks to work.

Ok.

There is fluid cleaner for this but I can never find any in the shops the only ones I seen is when they sell them in Tesco but they come in with the ink refill bottles so I just use worm water by it self on a cloth and dabbing on the heads to clean them, it will not harm the heads but not to much water.

Some heads are on the inks them self but some have them inside the printer so I not know your printer so if the heads are inside you need to get them out you may find that some heads will just clip out put some need to be unscrewed so you got to know how they come out so be careful and not push to hard on them, if the heads are on the ink then it is a easy job to clean them,
It worth a try it worked for me more than ones.

Please all I ask is call back and just gave a vote, it will gave me some satisfaction to know am helping some one, so I will keep on helping.

Brother mfc MFC-5440CN magenta issues

If you have used generic ink the head is clogged and cant be cleaned anymore.

Last chance is to use original brother ink which has cleaning fluids within the ink. Run the cleaning procedure twice and simply print 10 PAGES afterwards. Wait A DAY AND TRY TO PRINT IN MAG AGAIN:

If there will be no mag. the ph is definitley clogged and needs replacement.

1) Make sure the tape is removed from the new cartridge (and there are no blockages to allow the ink to flow.

2) The heads can become blocked if the printer is not used frequently or if the printer is powered off by other than the printer on/off switch.

3) The printer needs to go through a cleaning/priming cycle when it powers down and if not powered off correctly the print heads can become blocked.

4) To unblock your heads try several cleaning sessions (I.E. 5-7) if not more. Always ensure that there is sufficient ink before the cleaning sessions as the heads can be damaged if you attempt to use the printer without ink. The ink is not only used for printing but as a lubricant for the heads and if your try to print without ink it is equavalent to driving a car without oil. The print head will eventually fail.

IF this doesn't work you may need to use a specialized cleaner for print heads that can be purchased from "Inkjet Cartridge" resellers.

Check your printer for warranty, as they will typically change it without too much hassle.

P.S. Make sure the tape is removed from the new cartridge (and there are no blockages to allow the ink to flow.
