Have not used Casio CFX-9850GaPlus in 4 years which was stored without it's 4 AAA batteries. My niece needs it for high school. I put new A batteries in yesterday then replaced the CR2032 backup battery today. The lighting is very poor and the colors not bright despite playing with the contrast. Any ideas?

First:you must clean battery compatrment in direction of contact point with good contact cleaner from any electronic store near you or from radio shack.

Does the sharp el1186 have batteries?

No, it uses a power adapter, available at below:

You can also search out a printer ribbon for it.

This handles 10 digit calculations.

My calculator powered off and will not power back on. it is just over a year old.

Did you try replacing the batteries with fresh batteries? I believe they take standard AAA batteries.
I use rechargeable batteries in mine.

No, it's not radioactive. Nor does it use cold fusion.

According to the talk on some HP calculator fora, twenty years does not seem excessive for the Voyager series. I wouldn't be too surprised if batteries last as long in some TIs. It all depends on how much you use it.

If the asterisk is flashing, the batteries you put in are not good either.

How can I revive my TI89 after two years of not using it?

It could be that you need to replace the backup battery located behind a little door with a screw in the battery compartment. If this doesn't work, try resetting your calculator by leaving backup and AAA batteries out for about 8 hours and reassembling it. Hopefulyy this will work. Good luck

Most likely your battery is dying.

You can replace by removing 6 screws at back of calculator, but cost of battery is around 40% of buying new TI-30XA from Amazon, Staples or elsewhere.

I've used TI-30XA's for years, batteries usually last 2-3 years, then I buy new calculator. The one time I tried to replace battery, fading display still problem, so circuit board had gone bad.

So you could try battery replace and may be OK, but also may be waste of time and $$

Either battery is dying, or circuit board has gone, or connector cable loose.
