It means either the utility partition was never installed or has been deleted - basically you probably need the factory setup disk to fix that. It can be replaced manually by using partition magic or something similar to change the drive size to allow space for the utility partition and the partition can then be created and rebuilt using the factory disk if you are trying a repair without losing data. If you are reformatting completely - the partition is automatically created from the install disk that came with the pc.

How to use 2 OS's on the same mac hard drive

Open the App Store and locate Mavericks then download it. Note: it will only download an installer not the whole program. While it is downloading; Open Launch Pad --> Open Utilities --> choose Disk Utilities. Or in Finder choose Applications --> Utilities --> Disk Utility. Choose the hard drive you wish to partition from the left pane and choose the Partition Tab then the plus symbol under the white and blue block in the middle of the window that represents your hard drive. You can grab the edge and drag it to enlarge or minimize the size of the partition just like resizing a window. Name the partition if you like and select the way you would like it formatted (Mac OS Extended (journaled)) is the default and works fine. You can also manually enter the partition size here of the selected partition. For the installation of Mavericks you will need at least 20GBs to run smooth so size according to your needs and availability. Click Apply and your partition is done. When Mavericks is finished downloading click on it in your Downloads Folder to open the installer and it will open to a window with your hard drives available for a location. You should see the name of your partition for one of your hard drives, select it and follow the prompts. Enter your information when needed. When your system restarts it will automatically reboot to the new installation. If you wish it to reboot so you can choose which drive to start from (this is called your System Manager) hold down the option key while booting your system. You can change the default partition to boot by Opening Finder --> Applications -->System Preferences --> Startup Disk. Then simply select the partition you want to be your default Startup Disk and click restart. This will now be your default startup.

Using the F12 Diagnostics
* Reboot and press F12 to enter the Boot Menu
* When the boot device list appears, highlight Diagnostics and press Enter
* The computer begins to run the Pre-boot System Assessment, a series of embedded diagnostics that perform initial testing on your system board, keyboard, hard drive, and display

* Press any key to continue
* Press any key to start the Dell Diagnostics from the Diagnostics utility partition on your hard drive

Extended Test = Performs a thorough check of devices. The test typically takes 1 hour or more and requires you to answer questions periodically
Custom Test = Tests a specific device. You can customize the tests to be run

I rebooted my pc like to new but since i did that my pc wont come to the front page a blacl page comes out and it says....esc...alt...del i press all that but it wont do nothing

This error comes because your hard drive is not detected properly.
For that if you have dekstop then open cpu cabinet and reattach all connection to hard drive.
Then when you power up the computer press F1 or F2 or "del" key to enter in bios.then save settings and exit. Then check.
If still same issue then again boot your computer with windows diks then delete all partition then create again then formatr partition then install fresh windows.
But sometimes this error comes when your SATA or IDE cable has fault so change it then connect it again into harddrive.
Let me know if you need further assistance. Thanks for using FixYa.

Packard bell pentium3 windows me

F1 is probably the key to enter the Bios setup utility. Press and hold the F1 key immediately after you start the machine. Go to the boot priority section, and set your CD-Rom as first boot device. Press f10 to save the settings and reboot with your recovery disk installed

RAM installation

Hi hunter555,

First off, you've done a lot of work for nothing. What you need to do is put back the new memory. When the Dell Bios boots, it confirming that it has detected the new memory. What you need to do is hit the F1 key to reboot and continue on to the XP installation. When you open the case, it will say the same thing. Don't worry about it, it's only confirming that the case was opened. Typically, I shut off the case intrusion detection, only because I'm always adding things to the machines and it's just a extra step I have to take to boot. However, it's good to know that your bios is confirming that you've opened the case, and that you've put in new memory. You want to make sure that the setup recongizes the entire memory in the banks. So, go to the system information page and make sure that it's reading the original and the additional memory 256k you added. Otherwise your done.

Good Luck
