I have a friend with a 321 system. He says it will not play doble layer dvd's. Can this be resolved with a software update?

Unfortunatley no, its not software that reads dual layer discs, its hardware. I sold Bose for 2 years and do not know of any Bose items that will read dual-alyer discs. Dr. Bose has a hard time keeping up with technology sometimes. Other than that, the 321 is a great system!
