SOURCE: paper jam

Check for anything small stuck between the rollers, like a tiny fragment of paper, or any other debris. Clean it with a can of compressed air, if possible. Hold the printer upside down and gently try to shake off anything that may be inside. Sometimes you may have to dismantle the cover to check properly.
Clean the roller with a damp cloth and wait for the rollers to dry completely before trying to print again.
Make sure you have selected the correct paper type and quality from the printer properties.

SOURCE: Printing Business Cards on Cardstock

Yes, the roller system will only open wide enough for semi thick cardstock. If you read through you're manual you'll find the recommended card stock you can use. HP supports HP paper.
Here is a list of supported HP paper.

See the user manual on page 45.
Papers to avoid when printing
It would not hurt to remove the rear door & clean the rollers. (No soap). Dried soap film will cause paper to stick to the rollers. You can go to Wallmart or a local hardware store & buy a bottle of Grease Lighting. This heavy duty cleaner (When dry), does not leave any soap film. Great for cleaning just about anything.
If you wish to download the user manual from HP (It's easer to see & find information faster. Just click on this link:

Verify no pieces of the card paper are missing and try printing on plain paper to make sure. Then try new card paper and make sure none of the perforations are separated.

SOURCE: HP 4200 printer paper jam. No paper is jammed

check this out....when the printer reports the jam, open the paper tray very carefully and slowly.

Has the paper moved at all forward? Has it moved like 1/4 inch to 1/2 inch out of the tray?

If so, you probabaly need a torque limiter, no tools, $10 or so and a very very easy fix.

POBCM is very correct when he points out that the block/stop in the back of the tray moves when the tray is closed with too much force and this is the #1 cause most of the time.

You may see a "41.3" code displayed if the block is not up to the back of the paper and the paper is not all the way forward in the trays, and under the two metal clips at the front of the tray.

Try placing the business card sheet in the main paper bin instead of the manual feed or adjusting the print orientation from Portrait to Landscape or vice versa.

First off, NEVER EVER turn a componant upside down and shake it. Second, open the printer up and search for any additional paper. A lot of time a paper jam isn't just one sheet, especially if you have a faster printer. I would also try using some rubber rejuvinator on the printer so that it picks the paper up better so it goes through the printing cycle better.

Its most likely the paper you are printing on. It sounds like this is an ink printer. The way ink works is that it is absorbed into the paper you are printing on. Some paper pulls the ink too far into the paper causing it to look dull and faded. You need to make sure you are printing on paper that is designed for inkjet printers. There are a lot of companies that make special paper designed for printing your own business cards. I prefer Avery products since they have a guarantee.

Check this link out for some options on InkJet business card options.

Only prints business cards correctly on plain paper, but not on the card stock.

I am the guy with the hp d'jet D2445. I ran out of card stock in failed attempts. Not wanting to give up I bought more (Avery, no serrations) and it worked fine. Don't ask why.

Print Garbage

The reason your pictures come out dark and grey is that you have not set the paper thickness on your printer. On the back you will see a flip switch change this setting then feed your business card sheet in there and see the diffrence. Plus make sure your settings for your printer are set for a thicker paper this will fix your problem. Make sure though when done printing your cards that you set it back to the normal or you will have problems printing regular paper documents.
