As of this am the freezer stopped freezing. The air is blowing from the vents, but it is not cold. What is wrong, what does it need and how much should a repair cost? It is only 5 years old. Thank you.

Whirlpool french door refrigerator evaporator freezes about every 6 or 7 months

First, I'm not a Whirlpool representative.
* Check your warranty. Call for support;
* Contact;https://www.whirlpool.com/owners.html

*** The following is for information only.***
* Original question was slow ice making or melted ice;:
* Most common is ice build up in freezer coils. This happens every time the door is opened. Ice builds up on coils but is normally removed during a daily defrost cycle.
* The cycle may be unable to defrost all ice due to bad air circulation. Usually caused by rubbish blocking fan intake (bottom of freezer tray or wall.) Overloading food may cover the intake.
* Remove all food from freezer. Check for fan blockage. There should be a steady flow of cold air. If not then your freezer needs to be defrosted.
* Defrost by moving all frozen food to fridge side or cooler. Unplug fridge and open freezer door (drawer). Allow room air to circulate into the freezer. Use a house fan to blow air into freezer. (DO NOT use Hair dryer! It will damage panels.)
* Check and remove melted ice water. Check inner panels of freezer. Once defrosted the panels will be room temperature to the touch. There should not be any condensation or coldness to the panel. If it's still cold then keep defrosting.
* Once the water stops dripping. then close freezer doors.
* plug in freezer and wait 5 mins. Check freezer if inside is cold and the air is blowing cold. Reload freezer with food, take care not to overload or cover fan intake. Monitor for 2 days.

Why is my freezer not freezing food

Be sure that you have the vents for the air flow in your freezer not covered up by boxes or bagged foods. It has to be able to circulate through the freezer towards the door and back to the vents if that is all clear the you may have an issue with the clicks on switch that tells it to defrost when it gets frozen up and can blow cold air through vents any more it also could be a bad element that works with the clicks o switch that tells element to come on and defrost. If that's not then you maybe low on refrigerant. .hope this helps

Ge refrigerator is not cold enough and ice is not working

What is the model number?
The ice maker will only run if the freezer is at the correct temperature.
Do you see any ice buildup on the back wall of the freezer or behind it?

Admiral american fridge freezer constantly blowing cold air into fridge compartment.

Changing the freezer settings won't really make a difference because regardless its still going to be freezing. The way the machine works is the freezer cools the fridge, and there should be a control in the fridge that operates the baffles in the airway between the freezer and fridge and reduces the amount of air that enters into the fresh food section.

My freezer frosted over everything because the door was not shut tight and now it will not clear.

take out all the food out of the freezer,unplug the fridge and get a hair dryer and start melting out all the ice in the freezer,then blow the hot air into the vent holes on the back wall until you don't see any more water dripping down through the slots in the back wall.turn the machine back on,open the fridge door after around 5 or 10 minutes and if you feel cold air blowing into the fridge you fixed the problem,if you don't feel cold air keep hitting the inside back wall with the hair dryer and keep blowing the hot air into the holes in the back wall.all that it does is the freezer gets cold and there's a fan behind the back wall in the freezer,the fan blows the cold air into the fridge side,if the air ducts are frozen the air can't circulate into the fridge section so you have to melt the ice out so the cold air can blow from the freezer to the fridge.good luck,if you have another fridge remove the food and unplug it and leave the doors open for a day and it will melt out.good luck

Hello, I have a bottom freezer refrigerater that keeps freezing up in the vent hole rendering the fridge less than ideal temperature for keeping food at a safe temperature. How cane I stop this freez...

There MUST be room in your freezer for air to circulate. Check the arrangement of your frozen foods to be certain they are not blocking any vents. If your freezer is over-filled, you might want to discard some of the older packages to allow air flow.If this does not correct the situation, you'll probably need to have a service person take a look at it.

My fridge keeps freezing my food

The fridge gets its cold air from the freezer through a vent(damper) between the freezer and fridge.The fan in the freezer blows air through it. Make sure this fan is running. You may have to hold the door switch in for it to run. There is a flap you adjust with the fridge temp. control. Make sure it's opening and closing when you adjust the fridge temp.
The problem could be the electronic control if you have one or the mechanical linkages.

Freezer will not keep foods frozen fridge will not keeep temp.

Sounds like a main control board problem keeping the freezer fan from working . If no air flow to the top of the freezer , the icemaker will stop working and the ice will begin to melt ( leaking from freezer ) . The coils will start to freeze up due to no air flow across them . If continued for a period of time , the cold air could return thru the return vent located in the bottom of the ref/freezer section and freeze the water tank in the refrig section , causing the no water thru dispensor .

My freezer isn't keeping foods frozen. It's an eight year old Whirlpool. The fridge section also isn't keeping the food as cold as it used two. I have turned both sections to max for coldness. I have...

You can have the freon checked or recharged, or you might have to take the motor apart and blow it out with air or pressure wash it. The compressor may be going bad most of the time it's cheaper to replace deep freeze instead.
