There are two alleged ways to do a factory reset. Holding the off and plus volume buttons and doing the same only also holding the minus volume button all at the same time.

They also say to try code 0000 afterwards if it does not reset.

They say the child y and c are routed through A15/J15 pins 1 & 3. .... Just about all of the 1998 Panasonic tvcrs use this same protect circuit. These pins can be jumped if found. can you get a diagram of the circuit board that shows the pins if reset does not work.

Can you add/comment to/on this please. Thanks.

    Dyllan,

Thank you for your due diligence, I really appreciated you staying with this. The Pany was at my lake house and I had left it unplugged hoping it would release the child lock. After two weeks (I suspect 48 hours was all it needed) it fixed itself when I powered it up. Perhaps Panasonic though of this after putting that "always" option on the V-Chip.

Thank you again for staying with me. We have closure now.

It's likely there isn't a way to reset this without hooking it up to specialized equipment. However, there is one thing you could try.

Unplug the TV, and leave it unplugged for 24 hours. That should be sufficient time for the settings to be lost. After that, plug it in, and try the factory reset again. This may or may not work, depending on what the default settings are and whether there is an internal battery backing up your settings.

Short of that, I think you're going to have to take it in to a repair center, or put up with the lock.

I have looked everywhere I know to, and haven't been able to find a diagram or picture of the board.

The only other thing I could think to try is having you take some
photos (at the highest resolution possible) of the board and send them
to me. I might be able to find the pins based on that. Or you could just take it out and look over it yourself. There's a good chance the pins have a label on the board near them saying what they are.

Failing all else, find what pins you can that are close together and try jumping them. The worst that could happen is that you could erase all your settings. Anything that could cause damage if jumped won't have pins, as the only reason for that is to allow you to jump them.

How to get child lock off of my daughters TV I forgot the code help!

The procedure to unlock the child lock to TVs will differ brand to brand. The general procedure to most TVs are:
Locate the manual for your television. Though slightly embarrassing, accidentally turning on the child lock to a TV is a common problem. The section In the manual about how to set the child lock feature will also explain how to unlock it.
Try a few "universal methods" for unlocking the child lock. Some televisions have a universal code built in for disabling the child lock --no matter what your code is. A common code is "0000."
Unplug your television for a few minutes. The internal battery of the TV is what helps remember what your code. If the TV is unplugged for an extended period of time, it clears the internal memory, which in turn will reset your child lock code.
Check this. If you wish to get more details about unlock a TV, check the site linked here. Pull up older posts. Unlock procedure to many popular brand TVs are given in detail.

Hi,

As long as you remember the "CODE" The child lock on a TV is a wonderful thing.

The lock sometimes causes unwanted trouble--if it gets accidentally turned on and you don't know the code, you can find yourself unable to fully enjoy the full range of available television stations. Please apply the following possible 5 different solutions taht verified by different users and than hopefully you'll be back to watching regular TV ....

  1. Bring Up TV Menu ; Power on the television with the activated child lock on. Push the "Menu" button on the remote control. A series of features appears on the screen, ranging from the overall TV functions to the video display and the audio setup features ,Choose "Options" and a new menu appears on the screen. From the new menu select "Child Lock." The exact setup selection is going to vary slightly, although the child protection is always referred to as either "Child Lock" or "V-Chip." The V-chip is the actual chip built into the television that blocks out certain television programming.
  2. Try a "factory reset" action... This should be somewhere in the TV menu system. However Please note that will clear everything, so you may need to re-program every things..the channels etc.
  3. Hold the lock key in the remote for few seconds . you will get the lock tool bar . you can unlock it there
  4. Hold the display button on the remote for 10 seconds.
  5. As a The last solution which is common for all TV sets..
    • Try to find the User manual for your television. The section In the manual about how to set the child lock feature will also explain how to unlock it.
    • Try a few "universal methods" for unlocking the child lock. Some televisions have a universal code built in for disabling the child lock --no matter what your code is. A commonly used code is "0000."
    • Unplug your television for at least 1 hour . The internal memory battery of the TV is what helps remember what your code. When TV is unplugged for an extended period of time, it clears the internal memory, which in turn will reset your child lock code back to "0000 " again...
if the problem still continues you have to email to : http://www.akaiusa.com/

Hope this helps!

If you can get into main menu you should be able too reset to factory defaults this should cure the problem. If not, try 0000 or 1234.these are the factory default codes one of them may work.. Hope this helps.
