Re: alarm function ats 909

To cancel the alarm press the "C" button. "C" equals cancel. You need to be in the set alarm mode for this to work.

Re: alarm function ats 909

I looked at the manual :
and it looks like with most items they retain the memory.
Looks like your 1 of 3 programs will stay until changed.
You may however try to remove the batteries but this may have a battery backup for the memory.
Most items of this type hav a reset also, this will clear all memorys.
The manual says the reset switch is on the bottom.:
The Reset Swith (14) situated at the bottom of the receiver case will reset the Time and Microprocessor
only. All memory presets will remain intact. Reprogram time in accordance to earlier instructions.
It also states that it has a smart memory so it looks like removing the batteries will not work as stated:
Press and remove battery cover in the direction as indicated by the arrow on the cover.lnsert 4 AA
batteries with polarities exactly as shown on diagram next to battery cover. Side battery cover back into
place in direction of arrow until case snaps into place.
Each time the ATS-909 is turned off the battery icon and battery level indicator will remain on for
approximately 7 seconds.Batteries should be replaced when level indicator drops to 2/and or the
battery symbol flashes.
Batteries must be replaced within 3 minutes to retanin clock display.(Input memory will remain intact
even during power failure because receiver is equipped with EEPROM memory).
Hope this helped a little.

I bought my Midland WR-100 Weather Radio in 2008, from Walmart {Midwest City, OK}. They programmed it there, for Oklahoma County, and surounding Countys as well. It worked the 1st year, continuely as many...

Good morning, afternoon, evening or night, depending on the time of day you are reading this. From what you are requesting here, you want weather alerts for only for Oklahoma County? Here are the steps for doing this.

  1. If you need the S.A.M.E code for Oklahoma County, type this URL address into your URL box (
  2. Scroll down and find your county name and the S.A.M.E code will be located right beside it.
  3. Obtain your Weather Radio and press the MENU button.
  4. Use the directional up or down buttons until you see the word "SAME SET" on your screen. Once this is seen, press SELECT.
  5. You will either see the words "SINGLE", "MULTIPLE", or "ANY" on your screen. When this is seen, press SELECT if you see "SINGLE". Use the directional up or down buttons (if "SINGLE" does not appear on your screen) until "SINGLE" is displayed on the screen. Once this is seen, press SELECT.
  6. You will see the words SAME 01 on your screen. Once this is seen, press SELECT.
  7. Using the directional up or down buttons, program the first number of the code in the blinking column. When finished, press the > (directional right) button as this will automatically save the number and advance you to the next column.
  8. Continue Step 7 until all numbers are programmed in the radio.
  9. When finished, press SELECT as this will store and automatically save your code.
  10. Press MENU to exit.
If you followed these steps correctly, your radio should now be programmed to respond to only one county. To set it to respond to multiple counties again, follow these steps, only this time instead of choosing "SINGLE" you will choose "MULTIPLE". The "alarm not stopping until it's turned off", is a normal function and should not be tampered with. Hope this will come in handy in the future, especially during Tornado Season, as you state is in the region known as "Tornado Alley". This radio will keep you notified, informed on what's happening weather-wise and could possibly save your life from Mother Nature's threats. Thank you for taking the time to request your problem, read and perform this solution. Thank you for choosing FixYa as your one-stop spot for finding solutions to your problems! Be safe this Tornado Season and have a good day, afternoon, evening or night; whatever time you are reading this.

My ATS-909 has developed a problem. In every

I left mine under my bed for 2 years, when I turned it on it sounded very distorted. I took it apart and found the speaker to be faulty, I suspect my under floor heating may have had something to do with it. The internet suggests it's a fairly common problem. People seem to agree a sony 7600 speaker is the best replacment.

Need to make sure programmed

Program the Midland 74-109 Weather Radio
a) Turn unit on. Extend the antenna. Adjust volume up slowly; Do you hear anything? If not, try replacing the 9 volt battery with a fresh one, in the accessible battery compartment underneath the unit. Repeat above steps.
b) If no sound is heard, turn unit over and look for "WEATHER" slide switch on bottom. With unit on & volume adjusted to comfortable hearing level, slowly slide switch down (or up) through various frequencies [1)162.550, 2) 162.400, 3) 162.475, 4) 162.425, 5) 162.450, 6) 162.500, 7) 162.525] until voice transmissions are heard. This should be the closest National Weather Service (NWS) broadcast for your area. Check the NWS website at for your state, click on the state name, and look for the site name or site location nearest you. The frequency for that site should be the strongest, and appropriate for your area.
c) You can set the alert tone, for special weather alert broadcasts, on the bottom of the unit on the slide switch marked "ALERT". Set the switch to the desired type of alert: 1) LED [LED on top of unit (marked ALERT) lights up when alert is broadcast-no siren tone/alarm is heard] 2) LED & ALARM [LED lights up and alarm/ siren tone is heard] 3) VOICE [LED on top of unit lights up and voice broadcast is heard, only; no siren tone/alarm is heard].
d) Be sure to press the "ALERT" button on top of the unit and leave the volume at a comfortable listening level to hear weather alerts for your area (Alert LED on top of unit lights up to show Alert function is active). You can test the present volume level by pressing the "TEST" button. Be sure to press the "ALERT" button again after listening to the volume level to re-set the Alert function. You can listen to weather broadcasts anytime, by pressing the "WEATHER" button. After listening, be sure to re-press the "ALERT" button to reset the Alert function.
e) 9 volt battery life should last about 6 to 7 months, depending on how much unit is used an number of alerts received. Replace battery every 6 months, or when you replace your smoke alarm battery, or at beginning and end of daylight savings time. A 12 volt AC adapter to replace the battery, can be used. One should have been supplied with unit. If not, a replacement can be found at Radio Shack.
f) This should complete your Midland Weather Alert Radio Model 74-109 programming.
