You will find a small hole in the DVD drawer. Use a pin or a straightened paper clip and push it into the hole and the drive should pop open.

I've change the DVD reader write 3 times. It doesn't read an entire (good) CD with many retries especially nearer the end of the CD

I will explain to you how to solve this problem steps by steps. First of know that all steps are based on a windows 7 and xp. If you have a different computer version no matter, just try to find the steps I gives below. (These are valuable steps to teach you how to fix the CD/DVD problems). Step 1: Turn on your computer Step 2: Go to START then open it Step 3: Open CONTROL PANEL Step 4: Click where says SYSTEM Step 5: then a new window will open Step 6: Now you have to look for the CD and DVD devices and click on then Step 7: And finally on the top bar click on SCAN FOR HARDWARE CHANGES and that's it your cd/dvd must be working properly after you have done all of these steps. Have a good luck!!!

When i turn on my fantom green drive the green light keeps flashing

If the light turns on (mine was blue) but the drive is not recognized on your computer desktop that most likely means the drive does not have enough power. This happened to me too, and I took it to a computer expert and he said the drive was not even spinning. So it was either the external power source that broke or the internal power source, the power panel that broke. I took it to a batter plus and tested the wattage for the external power source and it was okay so then i took the entire drive apart and disconnected the naked hard drive from the power panel. Then I purchased "SATA to USB" cables (runs around 10-20 bucks) and connected the naked hard drive that way to the computer and it worked. So the problem is basically that the internal power panel is not working, and i had 2 fantom drives that both had this problem and they both worked after i did what i just said.. so I think your drive has the same problem since the light comes on but the drive is not spinning. Take it apart, buy some SATA to USB cables and it should work.

Hi Tom,
I suggest that you use the one marked IDE1, unless you have your hard drive on that port. I assume it's one of the sata's. But, make sure that your DVD drive has it's pin's set right. If it's going to be the only DVD drive on the machine, and your hard drive is a sata, then make that DVD drive the master pin set, if your Hard drive is a ide drive, then make sure that your hard drive is set to master and then your dvd will be set to slace. If you place the hard drive on the white slot, and the dvd drive on the green or colored slot, then you can choose cable select on both drives. But when you make it Master and Slave it doesn't matter which IDE you use, the pin tell the computer what is what.

Good Luck,

mark

Dvd player won't open

Since I was planing to throw it out anyway, I uncrewed each part of the dvd player and played around with it until it open. I than had to carefully put back all the parts that I took apart. It took me about 15 minutes. I did not know what part I fix. It was just luck, I think.

My xbox keeps on reading open tray when i put a disc can any one help me

Mine had the same problem. On mine the spindle wasn't turning the game. It kept trying to then quit and said "Open Tray". The warranty was out so I took it apart opened the dvd drive and took apart the spindle. The grease in the spindle was black, I guess from all the heat. Cleaned it out and put some high temperature grease on spindle shaft and in the hole. It now spins with ease. There are videos on youtube on how to take apart the xbox and to take apart the dvd drive and spindle. Just pay close attention at how tight the screws the hold the spindle down are.I hope this helps.

Hi guys, or gals,
I took the TV/DVD combo to Radio Shack, the kid there, and I took the entire TV apart, which was what was needed to even get to the DVD compartment, we took the compartment apart and found that a small, rubber washer surrounding two gears, that work the opening and closing of the DVD player had dry rotted and snapped. I left the kid take my TV home to see if he could locate a washer for it. So now you know. Hope this will help y'all in the future. Suggest that people don't buy TV/DVDM Combo's. (-:

I was getting "Open tray Error on all games so Took apart Xbox 360 and DVD drive and Cleaned the LOT, everything, even the Lens with a cotten Bud.. After I put it back together the Disk would Not spin at all.. it did before :( I took thr DVD part again and the centre curcle, where the disks sits to spin. I tried rotate as it would spinning a disk and It was hard, well alittle hard for a finger so impossible for a Drive, after spinning it clockwise afew times it got nice and Loose, was spinning very easy. Put the 360 together again and BAM, Spins perfectly and best of all, NO "open tray error" Yay :) hope this helps
