Re: tomtom problem

Your tomtom has to be plugged to your computer and your tomtom has to be turned on in order for it to read. If that does not get it. go to, register, and go to your suppost page. Follow instruction on it and it should do the trick.

How do i reg tom tom cant find any forms

Install the Tomtom HOME software available HERE. You'll need it anyway to keep your device updated.

In the top right corner of the application GUI you'll see a link that allows you to log in into your Tomtom account or create one if you do not have any yet.

If you connect any Tomtom device using the supplied USB connector cable or cradle, the device will prompt you if you'd like to connect to the PC. Tap "Yes" and the Tomtom HOME software starts. If a new device is detected, the registration process is started automatically that binds a Tomtom account to a device.

The official Tomtom advice is to have separate accounts for each Tomtom GPS you own.

No maps found..i cant locate backup..cant access menu on device..

Not sure what you have done - but if this is a new device you are entitled to a free upgrade to the latest map which should fix yor problem. Connect device to your computer - Open TomTom Home - Click on Tools (at the top) - Select Latest Map Guarantee - this should download a new up to date copy of your map.

Register my tomtom

To update your unit you must create an account by supplying a valid email address. I suppose this is akin to a registration.
To effect that you install the Tomtom Home software on your computer. Then you connect the unit to the computer. When it asks you if you want to connect to the computer, tap Yes and the HOME software will open allowing you to update maps etc. You will be asked to create an account.

This is not a solution, it is a new problem
my tomtom was working fine until I connected it to my computer using the latest TomTom Home. It now flashes a white cross and TomTom Home says "No device connected". My TomTom is useless now and does not work anymore.

My computer will not acknowledge my tomtom go 720 is plugged in to usb connector power light is on in charging cradle but computer says not connected

I had the same problem. I tried uninstalling software and re-installing it. That did not help. I reset my TomTom Go 720 with the reset button on the bottom of the unit. The computer then recognized my TomTom.

Formatting a tomtom go 710

Hi, I probably cant answer all of your questions but I might help with some of them. You should be able to access your TomTom 710 without removing TomTom home software from your PC. It should be accesses as a drive through the USB connection in "my computer" on your PC. When a USB device is connected to your PC it appears as an external drive. Therefore you should be able to delete , load onto , or format the TomTom hard drive ( or with some other models the SD card ) as you would a normal drive . ( an example of this is where you might have a camer with SD memory card and relevant manufacturers software on your PC . you might connect your camera to the PC via USB and the camera software on your PC automaticly detects the camera for it to eb accesssed . However , the camera and it's SD card can also be accessed seperatly by going to "MY Compter" and it should also be visible there as an external UDB device / external drive ) . Now .. to another another question . If you do un-install TomTom home , I dont think it will also delete any backup of your TomTom , it will only delete TomTom Home software . ( the word "think" is mentioned because I have never tried this ). Besides that , you can choose in tomtom home , where you want any backups to reside , so you could save backups via TomTom home to a CD for istance. If you did that , then you would have the backup on a CD rather than your harddrive which means you could safely un-install TomTom home knowing that if it also removed any saved backup you would still have the CD with a backup on it. So , to summerise.... If it were me , I would make a backup of the TomTom by simply copying all the files on it by opening the TomTom up as a folder in "MY Computer" , simply drag any files and folders from the TomTom into a folder I have prepaired ( call it for instance "my tomtom backup" ) on my PC . Then I would format the TomTom drive then reinstall the backup and see what happens. If the TomTom still doesnt work properly , I would Format the tomtom again then use TomTom home to obtain all relivant files , then copy only the maps and .MAC files ( these are the authorisation files for the maps ) from my Backup to the TomTom manually ( not from tomtom home ). I would guess that would result in a working TomTom again ... Good luck.
